Created the comic book characters Howard the Duck, Destroyer Duck, Omega the Unknown, Nevada, Richard Rory, Jennifer Kale (Witches), Lilith (Daughter of Dracula), Sludge, Exiles, Cybernary, Korrek the Barbarian, Dakimh the Enchanter, Dr. Bong, Simon Garth: the Zombie, The Living Mummy, Stewart the Rat, Jaghur (Void Indigo), Foolkiller, Al Bizarro, and the Suburban Jersey Ninja She-Devils.

Noted for his comic book work on Man-Thing, Daredevil and The Defenders.

At the time of his death he was writing the comic book "Dr. Fate" for DC Comics. Many of his scripts were written from his hospital bed in Las Vegas, where he was being treated for pulmonary fibrosis.
