Entertainment News: Teen Idol David Cassidy Dies at 67

Fort Lauderdale, Fla – He was the heart throb-iest of the teen heart throbs when he came onto the scene in the early 1970s. David Cassidy was the driving force of the manufactured-for-tv pop act The Partridge Family, which provided a soundtrack for their era. Cassidy died in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the age of 67, on November 21st, 2017.

David Cassidy fought the demons of his sudden fame for virtually the rest of his life after the Partridge Family era, admitting an alcohol problem after being arrested for a DUI in 2013. Earlier this year, he announced that he was living with non-Alzheimer’s dementia, which ran in his family. But during the burst of infamy he had in the early 1970s, there was no greater beloved pin-up teen than Cassidy, who ushered in a parade of dreamy 1970s boys like Donny Osmond, Vincent Van Patten, Leif Garrett and his half brother, Shaun Cassidy.

13 Superhero Movies Perfect for Justin Bieber

13 Superhero Movies Perfect for Justin Bieber
On the back side of the Funky Bunch, we never imagined that Marky Mark would emerge as Mark Wahlberg, top marquee draw and an Oscar nominee. While DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince was a fun and popular pop act of the 80s, no one living through 1988 ever thought, "That Will Smith sure has box office gold written all over him!" Cut to thirty years later, and he too is a multiple Oscar nominee and one of today's top leading men. While Justin Timberlake hasn't exactly set the big screen ablaze, he's become a beloved institution amongst the hipster marketplace, as well as a sought out persona amongst all other demographics who love his comedy on Saturday Night Live, bathe in his music, or applaud his various turns at dramatic acting. He's the closet thing we have to Frank Sinatra today.

What I'm trying to say is, there's hope for Justin Bieber.

Spirit Of ’76 Wednesday Night at Schlafly Bottleworks – Wear Your Bellbottoms!

“What sign are you? Because my mood ring just, like, totally changed colors!”

Spirit Of ’76 screens Wednesday night January 6th at Schlafly Bottleworks at 8pm

You never know what’s brewing at Webster University’s Strange Brew Film series, and this month, you’ll be able to go back in time – 40 years to a decade you probably never wanted to revisit. In Spirit Of ’76 (made in 1990), time travelers traveling to 1776 get inadvertently dropped in 1976 instead. Hilarity, bell bottoms and leisure suits ensue. Spirit Of ’76 used to play on cable a lot in the early ‘90s but I haven’t seen it in years. It’s one of those forgotten classics that, for some reason, has been forgotten (I guess that’s why they call it a ‘forgotten classic’). It’s silly and cheesy but I remember much of the humor being spot-on. One of my favorite aspects of the film are all the cameos…

Film Nerd 2.0 stays gold with an emotional screening of 'The Outsiders'

Film Nerd 2.0 stays gold with an emotional screening of 'The Outsiders'
Film Nerd 2.0 is an ongoing series in which we explore the ways we share media with our kids, particularly those of us who grew up deeply in love with movies. The media landscape has changed completely, and parents need to be more engaged than ever in what their kids watch and what they take from that entertainment. "Daddy, why did the Karate Kid Johnny die?" When "The Outsiders" was released in 1983, I was 13, and I already dearly loved the S.E. Hinton novel. It's melodramatic as hell, but that's how it feels to be a teenager, no matter what era you're talking about. I may not have had to deal with Socs or Greasers, but navigating the turbulent emotional landscape of adolescence was something that informed every line of Hinton's book. Francis Ford Coppola's film is burnished and beautiful, and it featured a young cast made up of actors on

Cheerleader Camp (1989) review

Cheerleader Camp (1989)

Directed By: John Quinn

Written By: David Lee Fein, R.L. O’Keiff

Starring: Betsy Russell (Alison), Leif Garrett (Brent), Lucinda Dickey (Cory), Lorrie Griffin (Bonnie), George Buck Flower (Pop), Travis McKenna (Timmy), Teri Weigel (Pamela), Rebecca Ferratti (Theresa Salazar), Vickie Benson (Ms. Tipton), Jeff Prettyman (Sheriff Poucher), Krista Pflanzer (Suzy)

Cheerleader Camp”, which has the alternate title “Bloody Pompoms”, is much better than some of the later slasher fare I have seen. The slasher boom was in the early 1980s but by the time the late 80s came around it seems the ideas were thin.

Cheerleader Camp” feels like a strange version of “Friday the 13th” in many aspects. While I do like the movie as a whole, it does have its issues. It could also be that I have a soft spot for slasher films as they were the first

Brooke Shields Recalls "Beautiful" Experience of Losing Her Virginity to Dean Cain (Before Guilt Slapped Her in the Face)

Brooke Shields Recalls
When she was a junior at Princeton, Brooke Shields fell in love with a future Superman. And though they ultimately never married, the Blue Lagoon star did eventually decide that she and Dean Cain should consummate their relationship after years of dating. In her new memoir, There Was a Little Girl: The Real Story of My Mother and Me, Shields opens up about the way in which her mom affected pretty much every area of her life, not least of them dating and romance. "She loved that I had briefly dated John Travolta, Jimmy McNichol, Leif Garrett, Scott Baio and John Kennedy," she wrote of her mother and manager Teri, who "trusted that I would keep my vow of chastity." But when she met...

What Happened? Child Stars We Thought Would be Hot Adults!

View Photo Gallery

Let’s be honest, puberty isn’t kind to any of us. Weird things happen to chins, hair gets fuzzy, voices get squeaky and deepen (especially awkward if you’re a girl). But it’s normal! As non-celebrity civilians, we learn to develop stellar personalities to distract from the acne and move on with our lives. Not so easy for child stars. For kids and teens whose careers depend on their adorability factor — who can support their entire family for a year with their dimples — losing their cutie-pie good looks can be disastrous. Look at The Brady Bunch’s Susan Olsen. As Cindy Brady, the lisping daughter with the boing-boing blonde curls, she was a star. But sadly, she grew up to look like a tough-but-lovable bartender in a biker-themed pub in San Fran. Or Tevin Campbell, who was prom-date-perfect as a tween/teen R&B hottie.

Former teen idol Leif Garrett has some advice for Justin Bieber: Don't believe your own publicity.

In the 1970s, Garrett was a child star riding the tidal wave of young success. But things eventually began to spiral downward, and he became better known for his drug abuse and legal woes than for his craft. Having been down the roads of both fame and failure, Garrett now has some wise words for Bieber, whose recent bad behavior has landed him in the headlines.

"Do not believe your own publicity," he said when asked what advice he has for the "Heartbreaker" singer during an interview with Fox News. "Sussing out who your real friends are is full-time work. Every scum bag, every drug dealer, every chicken hawk wants a piece of you."

Our 20 Favorite Horror Movie Taglines

Our 20 Favorite Horror Movie Taglines
One of the best things about horror film posters is the obligatory tagline. Some of them are catchy and increase your interest in watching the film, others are silly, some are unforgivably campy, and others are outright ridiculous. The best horror film poster blurbs, however, are typically a blend of all the aforementioned components. Many of our favorite taglines are almost a lampoon of themselves, but somehow, that has become part of the magic. It’s almost as if the worse the pun, the better the audience response. The heyday of the outlandish promo blurb was at its height when the slasher film was at its peak, but that’s not to say that contemporary horror cinema hasn’t brought us some dandies. With that in mind, we present to you 20 of our most favorite horror poster taglines from the 1970s to present. House "Horror has found a new home.

A Look Back at Misleading VHS Box Cover Art

A Look Back at Misleading VHS Box Cover Art
The fantastic thing about the VHS years is that the poster art was frequently hand drawn and frequently had very little or nothing to do with the actual film. If you picked a film based solely on the box cover, you had a pretty good chance of being disappointed or at least surprised. Distributors seemed to see a snazzy box cover as a good way to get some mileage out of a subpar film. That still goes on today, but it seems to happen less frequently and the artwork just isn’t the same. In spite of the trickery that duped more than a couple of horror fans in the ‘80s and early ‘90s, there are some terrific and legitimate films that have terribly misleading – albeit awesome – cover art. Forthat reason, we present to you ten shining examples of awesomely misleading film artwork. Chopping Mall If you were to take
