The Sorcerer’S Apprentice Trailer - Updated

9 December 2009 1:27 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The first trailer for Walt Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice has been released.  This is the Jon Turteltaub directed (National Treasure, National Treasure: Book of Secrets) adventure/comedy starring Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, Alfred Molina, Teresa Palmer, and Monica Bellucci.

While I’m a big fan of producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s movies that star Nicolas Cage (The Rock, Con Air, Gone in 60 Seconds, National Treasure), the trailer makes me quite nervous.  Everything from the music to the not very good CGI left me less than impressed and the film looks like it aims very young.  Saying that, if I were a twelve year old and hadn’t seen a lot of movies, maybe this trailer would excite me.  Judge for yourself after the jump.

Update: Disney has provided us with three images from the film.  They’re below the trailer.

Here’s the synopsis:

Dave (Jay Baruchel) is just an average college student, »

Adam Sandler plays both Jack and Jill. Can an Oscar nomination be far behind?

28 October 2009 9:57 PM, PDT | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

This month's new Adam Sandler movie project to report is officially classified as set with the romantic comedy genre. Since I am such a huge fan of Mr. Sandler's material, especially the movies where he acts like an emotionally stunted man-child (oh wait, that's nearly all* Adam Sandler movies! Silly me!), I can't let it slip by my attention about the facts concerning his new project, Jack and Jill.

Variety's Tatiana Siegel, who's more polite in holding back any derision she has for Sandler, spills some facts about the movie but doesn't have more of the movie's premise save for the factoid that the SNL-er will be playing both the Jack and the Jill twin brother and sister roles in the film. How the rest of the film is shaped storywise remains a mystery for now, much like the fate of Amelia Earhart, the location of Jimmy Hoffa and »

Adam Sandler is onboard for the Columbia Pictures film, Jack And Jill. The film is a romantic comedy produced through Sandler's own company Happy Madison. Adam Sandler will show his feminine side as both 'Jack and Jill'

28 October 2009 2:16 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Is drag the flavor of the month for Hollywood's leading men?  Last week Ryan Reynolds committed to star as a man who pretends to be a woman to get his girlfriend back in an untitled Universal comedy and now, Adam Sandler is preparing to get pretty.  Well, he'll certainly try. According to Variety, Sandler will play both title characters in the new romantic comedy "Jack and Jill."  Not much is known about the project except that Jack and Jill are twins and not a couple.  Where the "romantic" portion of the film comes in is still unclear. Adam Sandler Is Jack And Jill

28 October 2009 12:08 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

You only have to watch Punch Drunk Love and Funny People to realise that Adam Sandler is capable of great things. We also have a lot of love for Happy Gilmore. But "great things" seem to be on the back burner for now, and in the meantime, here's Jack and Jill.Todd Garner (Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Are We There Yet?) is producing, and Saturday Night Live alumnus Steve Koren has written the script, the high concept nugget of comedy gold at the centre of which is that Sandler will play both Jack and his twin sister Jill.Honestly, doesn't that sound like a film that George Simmons might have made? Are Merman and a film where Sandler has an adult's head on a baby's body next? And can Sandler do as great a job as Michael J Fox in Back to the Future 2? All will no doubt be revealed in due course. »

Columbia Picks up The Horror Version of Supermax

29 September 2009 8:04 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Just to get it out of the way first: the “Supermax” movie that we’ve been hearing about, that has elements of horror in it and is set in a prison for monsters/paranormal cons? It has nothing to do with the “Supermax” movie by David Goyer that will star D.C.’s Green Arrow going to prison for supervillains and forced to fight his way out. The two films have strikingly similar premise, so it’s easy to get confused. Now, as to the horror version of “Supermax”, THR reports that Columbia Pictures has picked up the spec script. “Supermax” was written by Mitch Rouse and Christopher Nelson, and is set in a maximum-security prison for inmates with supernatural abilities. Our hero is described as “a skilled prison guard” at the supermax, who arrives at his new job just as a riot breaks out. The guard must team up »

Chris Nelson and Mitch Rouse talk Supermax

11 September 2009 6:44 PM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Special FX artist/actor Christopher Allen Nelson (pictured), whose onscreen credits include Kill Bill and the title role in The Tripper, and his writing partner Mitch Rouse have sold their original screenplay Supermax to Sony Pictures. The horror/action project is about a maximum security prison for the supernatural, and a skilled prison guard who, trapped during a riot, must team up with one of its monstrous inmates to survive. Fango got a chance to chat up the two writers and find out what’s in store for us when Supermax eventually hits screens.

“First off, this has nothing to do with the Green Arrow project!” says Nelson, who felt that needed clearing up, since the prison setting and title echo the stuck-in-development superhero movie Super Max. “That said, we wanted to write a movie with everything we like about the genre in it. Something we would want to see. »

Second Supermax script sold

10 September 2009 7:25 AM, PDT | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

There's two high concept prison break movies called Supermax? According to Bloody Disgusting another script with the same title as the one by Street Fighter scribe Justin Marks has just sold to Columbia Pictures. Unlike the earlier Supermax idea, which had DC Comics' Green Arrow planning his escape from an ultra-high security prison designed to keep supervillains behind bars, this Supermax idea takes place in a facility where supernatural beings are the prisoners.

As written by Christopher Allen Nelson and Mitch Rouse, their Supermax movie is about a guard from the prison having to make a team-up of convenience with a dangerous inmate of the prison after a riot breaks out. The two protect each other's back as they fight their way past monster-like creatures and amped up crazies to get out of danger. Like I said, it's high concept but in a completely other direction than the superhero Supermax. »
