'Pan Am' Might Land At Amazon Studios

25 May 2012 7:17 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

When "Pan Am" first aired it looked like ABC might have a hit on their hands. The premiere (which cost $10m) was watched by 11 million viewers, the promos all looked (aesthetically at least) very appealing, while the reviews were cautiously positive and also expressed optimism for what the show had the potential to become. It also didn’t hurt that it arrived at the same time as NBC’s “The Playboy Club” – to which it bore a stylistic similarity – and seemed fantastic by comparison. But by the time the penultimate episode of the season aired the viewership had dropped to just over 2.5 million with a 0.7 demo rating, and by that point the writing was on the wall.

However, there may be hope yet for the show, with Deadline reporting that Sony are negotiating with Amazon to bring back the show just a fortnight after it was officially cancelled. Apparently the »

Amazon Reportedly Interested In Saving ABC’s ‘Pan Am’

23 May 2012 8:49 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

This is getting to be the new routine. Knowing that original content is king, networks and non-networks everywhere are lining up to either create their own programs or, like Netflix and now, online retailer Amazon, resurrect failed shows like ABC’s period drama Pan Am.

According to recent reports, the online retailer is looking for ways to broaden its streaming content, and since it already carries the first season of Pan Am, has been in contact with Sony Pictures Television about potentially serving as the program’s new home, now that ABC has sent the flight attendants packing.

Pan Am came into being as the second Mad Men wannabe, but unlike poorly received entry The Playboy Club on NBC, Pan Am, boasting a cast featuring Christina Ricci, Mike Vogel (Cloverfield) and Kelli Garner (The ...

'Pan Am' Flying To Amazon?

23 May 2012 1:08 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

"Pan Am" could fly once again -- online with Amazon. According to Deadline.com, Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures TV are in talks to continue the canceled ABC drama as part of Amazon's streaming service.

ABC pulled the plug on the 1960s-set drama after one season. The show took off strong in September 2011 -- the premiere had an audience of more than 11 million viewers and a 3.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic -- but quickly plummeted in ratings. The ABC finale in February 2012 had an audience of 3.8 million viewers and a 1.2 rating.

Sony has a history of fighting to keep its shows alive. When FX canceled the critically-acclaimed "Damages," Sony took the series to DirecTV. NBC's fan-favorite, yet low-rated comedy "Community" is also backed by Sony.

"Pan Am" was recently honored with a Rose d'Or award, one of the top honors in media in Europe. The series featured Christina Ricci, Kelli Garner, »

Pan Am: (Finally) Cancelled; No Season Two

12 May 2012 11:10 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Like the airline that inspired the TV show, Pan Am has been grounded. ABC has cancelled the drama after one season of 14 episodes.

Taking place in the 1960s, Pan Am tells the tale of a group of men and women who work for the Pan Am airline. The large cast includes Christina Ricci, Mike Vogel, Michael Mosley, Kelli Garner, Margot Robbie, and Karine Vanasse.

The drama debuted last September to a solid 3.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.06 million total viewers. It was second in its timeslot but there was no shame in being beaten by football on NBC.

In week two, Pan Am dropped a reasonable 16% but then dropped a whopping 27% in week three. Over the course of the season, the ratings dwindled down further. Pan Am ended up averaging a 1.7 rating in »

The couple stepped out for the first time together at a basketball game in Los Angeles last weekend and now UsMagazine.com reports the actors have been quietly dating for several months.

The actors were spotted arriving hand in hand at the Global Green Pre-Oscar party at Avalon in Hollywood on Wednesday night (February 22). Galecki previously dated his Big Bang Theory co-star Kaley Cuoco in secret. The pair did not confirm they had been going out until after their two-year relationship ended in 2009, with Cuoco saying: "We were so protective of ourselves and the show and didn't want anything to ruin that." TV Review: Pan Am 1.14, ’1964′

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

[insert airline metaphor to illustrate the path of the series Here]

And so it comes to this, the season finale (possibly series finale?), of Pan Am. As I write this, ABC hasn’t yet announced if they’re going to pick up the show for a second season, but I rather doubt they are. If they do, it would likely have to be without Mike Vogel (Captain Dean) who, it turns out, has signed up to do another TV show. So, yeah.

Anyhow, we resume the plots we’d left off after last week’s bizarre blip, starting with Collete’s (Karine Vanasse) relationship with the future king of Qumar, or whatever fictional country he’s from. Yes, they’re still seeing each other, and now he wants to start officially courting her, which would require her moving in to the palace for a few months. It also requires an extensive background check, which ends up revealing »

'Pan Am': What Season 2, if there is one, might look like

20 February 2012 3:17 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The season (and more than likely series) finale of "Pan Am" aired on Sunday (Feb. 19). It offered some pretty good twists and turns as the group enjoyed the waning hours of 1963.

But if Sunday's show was its last, fans of the program are no doubt wondering what might have happened to their favorite flight crew down the road. That's where we come in.

Having watched every episode of the period drama and a decent amount of TV in general, we at Zap2it have come up with some ideas as to what the future would have held for "Pan Am."

Tell us what you think...

Laura and Ted: Ted (Michael Mosley) decided to call off his wedding with Amanda (Ashley Greene) and instead profess his love for Laura (Margot Robbie). This message was sealed with a kiss and then another kiss. So everything looked to be going great for the two. »

Lisa Steinberg: A Trip Down Memory Lane

17 February 2012 3:25 PM, PST | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

In my teens I was always fascinated by history and the incredible figures and events that have made their marks on the world. Even TV shows that portrayed these monumental moments and people truly captivated me. In particular, the show Quantum Leap was a standout favorite of mine because the main character Sam, played by Scott Bakula, would leap into bodies of people throughout different time periods and viewers would be treated to getting to see history play out in different eras. Viewers were able to see Sam showcase moments during periods in time that they were not yet born. Some of us could relive the moments that we were alive for. Nostalgia has always had a standout place in television which has allowed audiences to be a part of history continuously and to relive treasured moments. The philosopher George Santayana has a famous quote about history that reads, "Those »

TV Review: Pan Am 1.13, ‘Romance Languages’

14 February 2012 12:11 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

“Romance Languages” is an episode with a serious problem; it’s airing out of sequence. In a serial program like this, that’s a major drawback. This episode should have aired, if I remember correctly, seventh. Instead it’s episode thirteen. This means that we’re seeing the mid-part of plot threads that have already been resolved, an end to a plot thread we didn’t know was finished, and the start of one we saw the finish to recently.

To say it’s a bit confusing is something of an understatement, especially since those of us in the audience aren’t told what’s going on. We aren’t told that this is airing out of sequence. But never mind, let’s just move on.

We start by seeing Laura (Margot Robbie) looking over photos in gallery. Yes, this is where we meet her mystery photographer. »

Pan Am Review: What Already Was

12 February 2012 9:06 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

"Romantic Languages" was the lost episode of Pan Am that let us in on a lot of little secrets heretofore unknown.

Looking back, it did seem like there was a jump in time, but I didn't realize how much the story was affected until watching tonight. It would have been nice if they had shown this episode in order because it felt like we were living a dream. That this happened to the the installment before what could very well be the series finale is a bit disappointing.

Example: So that's how Dean and Ginny ended things. He broke up with her thinking they were just having a good time. I thought she just walked into the sunset with Mr. Pan Am executive, but she was an absolutely crazy nut. She followed Dean around the world and even smashed her own forehead into a window to try to show him »

TV Review: Pan Am 1.12, ‘New Frontiers’

24 January 2012 1:02 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Well, here we are at episode twelve of Pan Am. It takes place toward the end of November in 1963, so you know what that means. Yes, Doctor Who is about to air for the first time!

Our episode begins with Kate (Kelli Garner), finally receiving some CIA training. It seems that they want her to go to Rome and pickpocket some scientist for some rocket information or something. I wasn’t too clear on it because I was so stunned to see them actually show her how to do a job. It only took twelve episodes, too! Interesting thing: she’s using the old “bump into someone and steal their wallet” thing. I could never figure out how that was supposed to work unless you’re carrying your wallet in your coat pocket or something. Even more odd is when someone gets their back pocket picked. »

TV Review: Pan Am 1.11, ‘Diplomatic Relations’

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

There are, on the whole, far worse ways to open an episode of Pan Am than with a shot of Captain Dean (Mike Vogel), hanging around shirtless. However there are perhaps several that would be far less distracting.

The story starts up and begins moving pretty fast. Turns out Dean and Bridgett (Annabelle Wallis), have sort of picked up where they left off. Both are somewhat confused about their feelings, and Dean is constantly turning over in his mind the whole spy thing, trying to get that sorted out. As he does this, a call comes in. It turns out Juan Trippe, the head of Pan Am (played memorably by Alec Baldwin in The Aviator), wants Dean to come back to New York. Why? So he can fly a special flight to Moscow.

Once in New York, we see the crew coming together. Ted (Michael Mosley »

'Pan Am' preview: Is Maggie sleeping with the enemy?

13 January 2012 10:54 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

As the saying goes, politics makes for strange bedfellows. Or in the cast of Maggie (Christina Ricci) and Congressman Rawlings (Chris Beetem) on "Pan Am," bedfellows make for strange politics.

During the Jan. 8 episode of the period drama, the more than opinionated Maggie submitted an anonymous editorial to the Village Voice railing against the representative's hypocrisy. But after a pleasant lunch with Rawlings, Maggie fell for him. Of course there's still the lingering issue of that article.

On Sunday's (Jan. 15) show, Rawlings is none too pleased after reading the piece that calls him out on his double standards. He says, "I don't appreciate sources with 'inside knowledge' conspiring with the enemy," not realizing the "enemy" is right in front of him. Maggie is now focused on steering him in any direction that doesn't point toward her.

In other "Pan Am" news, Kate (Kelli Garner) tries to help out a couple of stewardesses mistaken for spies. »

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars

When I told some friends of mine that I would be reviewing tonight’s episode of Pan Am, their response was, “That’s still on?” Yes, it is, surprisingly. ABC kept it off their air for several weeks during the holiday season, but now it’s back. Has it improved any in the time it was gone? Sadly, no.

We begin right where the previous episode left off: Kate (Kelli Garner), has shot and killed a man in her capacity as a spy. Very quickly her handler tells her about some protocols and chases her out of the country. She returns to the USA, and runs into Bridgett (Annabelle Wallis). Yes, we finally get to see quite a bit of her in this episode. Anyhow, Kate’s handler then tracks her down, tells her that he told Mi-6 that he’s the one who pulled the trigger, »

'Pan Am': Who Has A Secret?

6 January 2012 1:22 PM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

"Pan Am" is back and the resident lovebirds are flying high. In this exclusive preview of the new episode, Colette (Karine Vanasse) and Dean (Mike Vogel) have just had one very romantic night out seeing Robert Redford in the stage version of "Barefoot in the Park" ... but is the romance about the fizzle once Colette reveals a secret?

"I might have one for you," Colette tells Dean. "When we get to London."

However, Dean says he has ways of making her talk. Hmm ...

Also in "Secrets and Lies," Maggie (Christina Ricci) writes a story for the Village Voice condeming her congressman's politics, but the sparks develop between the two, Kate (Kelli Garner) has trouble moving on from her last spy assignment and fears for her future and Laura has trouble dealing with Ted's new love interest.

"Pan Am" returns with its inaugural season on Sun., Jan. 8 at 10 p.m. Est on ABC. »
