After the high profile and, what Hollywood execs like to call “high concept” shows of last week’s article, this week I will be going through new pilots which follow two trends I like to call “remaking is breaking” and “Desperate Housewives is over and Grey’s Anatomy has got to end sometime”.
Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives have been big ratings pulls in the coveted demographic (18-49 if you don’t know) for ABC and have meant big advertising bucks. And, even though Grey’s prolific creator Shonda Rhimes, who will be show running three to five shows next season depending on pickups, has claimed that Grey’s will move past eight seasons, there is a general sense that the show is on the decline and, coupled with the loss of Desperate Housewives at the end of the current season, there is a definite hole in the market. »

Hollywood Rush is a lighthearted drama workshop. And also, torture. But fun torture full of good people.
A bunch of performers -- many gay, all gregarious -- come up with one-act plays in a night's time, turn in scripts at dawn, and rehearse and perform the works that evening. Casts are drawn at random, a writer and director are assigned to those casts, and a mini-play festival emerges. It benefits the Baby Dragon Fund, which fuels the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's programs for youth, mental health, and crystal meth recovery and prevention. Solid. So I figured, why not show up and harass the sleep-deprived performers?
Emcees Lance Bass and Fashion Police analyst George Kotsiopolous cohosted the event, and they were both aware they had the easy job.

"Friday Night Lights" and "Parenthood" executive producer Jason Katims likes working with familiar faces, so it's no surprise that he's recruited another of his former stars for his NBC pilot "County." According to HollywoodReporter.com, Michael B. Jordan is joining the cast of the medical drama, which focuses on the doctors, nurses and administrators at "an underfunded and morally compromising Los Angeles County hospital." The trade says Jordan will play a doctor named Travis Hancock. The pilot also stars Jason Ritter and Aimee Garcia. This will be Jordan's third time working with Katims, after playing Qb-1 Vince on the »

"Weeds" star Justin Kirk is moving to NBC for a comedy pilot called "Animal Kingdom" -- but that doesn't necessarily mean he's done with the Showtime series.
Kirk will play the lead role in "Animal Kingdom," which is about a veterinarian who likes the animals he cares for a lot more than their owners. Deadline reports he's also negotiating with Showtime about a new contract for Season 8 of "Weeds," which will likely be the last for the show. The schedule for "Weeds" likely wouldn't interfere with that for "Animal Kingdom" if the latter gets picked up for the 2012-13 season.
Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka ("The Sitter") wrote the pilot and are executive producing with directors Anthony and Joe Russo ("Community"), Scot Armstrong and Ravi Nandan.
Other pilot-season news, also from Deadline:
- Jon Favreau ("Iron Man") will direct NBC's Eric Kripke-J.J. Abrams drama pilot "Revolution," set in »

Nicole (Anders) has everything going for her — loving parents and in-laws, adoring husband, successful siblings and a trouble-free pregnancy.
