Two children with Michel Berger: daughter, Pauline (November 14, 1978 - December 18, 1997), and son, Raphaël (April 2, 1981 - ). Tragically, France lost both her husband and her daughter in the 1990s. Michel died of a heart attack in 1992, at age 44, and Pauline died of cystic fibrosis in 1997, at age 19.

Supports Couers des Femmes, a charity helping homeless women.
Her 1988 hit "Ella, elle l'a", a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, topped the charts in many countries.
