Hunter Killer Gets Director Antoine Fuqua

Filmmaker Antoine Fuqua is in final talks to direct Hunter Killer for Relativity Media. We reported last month that Salt director Phillip Noyce left the project, which allowed for Antoine Fuqua to take the reins.

Hunter Killer centers on a new submarine captain who teams up with a Navy Seal team to rescue the Russian president. They must also stop a Russian general that started a military coup before he can start World War III.

Jamie Moss (Street Kings), Arne Schmidt (XXX: State of the Union), and John Kolvenbach wrote the screenplay for Hunter Killer, which is adapted from the Don Keith and George Wallace novel, Firing Point.

Neal H. Moritz, Toby Jaffe, and Ryan Kavanaugh are producing, with Tucker Tooley serving as executive producer. Production is scheduled to start this winter.

Phillip Noyce Not Directing Hunter Killer

Salt director Phillip Noyce has backed out of directing the big budget action thriller Hunter Killer for Relativity, Moviehole has learned.

Based on Don Keith and George Wallace's novel "Firing Point," the story centers on an American sub commander and a Navy Seal team that must rescue the Russian president and defeat a renegade admiral who's attempting a coup.

It is being reported that Phillip Noyce felt the material was too similar to films he's made, and will concentrate on Relativity's love story Timeless, and the thriller Above Suspicion from Bold Films.

No replacement director has been announced.

Hunter Killer comes to theaters December 21st, 2012 and stars Thomas Dekker, Josh Friedman, Steve Galich, Lena Headey, Jeffrey G. Hunt, Jim Lima, Heather MacDougall, James Middleton. The film is directed by Phillip Noyce. »

Snow White, Safe Haven, and Hunter Killer Get Release Dates

Relativity Media announced today release dates for three films on its 2012 slate. Previously dated for June 29, 2012, Relativity's Untitled Snow White Project, directed by Tarsem Singh (Immortals), will now release on March 16, 2012. Safe Haven, based on Nicholas Sparks' best-selling novel, will release on June 1, 2012. Hunter Killer, directed by Phillip Noyce (Salt, will release on December 21, 2012.

In Relativity's Untitled Snow White Project, starring Oscar&#174-winner Julia Roberts and breakout star Lily Collins (The Blind Side), an evil Queen (Julia Roberts) steals control of a kingdom, and an exiled princess (Lily Collins) enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright in a spirited adventure comedy filled with jealousy, romance, and betrayal that will capture the imagination of audiences the world over. The film also stars Armie Hammer (The Social Networkk) as the object of their affection, Prince Andrew Alcott, and Nathan Lane (The Birdcage) as the hapless and bungling servant to the Queen. »
