"Are you kidding me, man?!" composer Angelo Badalamenti howls jokingly when Rolling Stone asks him what he thought of Twin Peaks, the TV series he scored in the early Nineties. "It was really off the wall. I thought it was either going to sink violently down the drain or, hopefully, capture the intrigue of enthusiastic people conversing by the office water cooler on a Monday morning."

Dave Holmes Revisits ‘U Can’t Touch This,’ ‘Poison,’ and Other 1990 Jams

I am impressed with both the title and the debut chart position (No. 3) of Mariah Carey’s latest album, Me … I Am Mariah … The Elusive Chanteuse, so I’d like to use this installment of Somewhere in Time to head back to June 12, 1990, when we were introduced to her chanteusey elusiveness. What was the pop-music landscape like when her debut album, Mariah Carey, was released? Pull out your biggest earrings, hike up your palest blue jeans to your navel, and join me in the DeLorean Gif, won’t you? Our tour will take us through the Top 40 songs of the week ending June 16, 1990, and it’s not over until a trio of differently sized ladies sing.40. Tommy Page, “When I Dream of You”Man, if you’re going to explore 1990, there is no better sound palette to start with than this one. That 808! That post–Kenny G »

Kenny G's 'Going Home' Is the Signal to Leave in China

12 May 2014 5:30 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Kenny G's 1989 hit "Going Home" is many things. Soft, mellifluous, dated. It's also a ubiquitous social cue in China that asks - nay, commands - patrons of a variety of settings to literally go home when they hear its wistful melody, reports The New York Times. No one interviewed for the story about the mystery of Kenny G's strange presence in Chinese society could explain why whenever the strains of "Going Home" grace the speakers of a given institution - be it mall, library, or finance building - it's time to close up shop and leave. In Beijing's famous Panjiayuan Antiques Market, »

Alison Brie and Jimmy Kimmel read Craigslist 'missed connections' ads

31 January 2014 1:30 PM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

The missed connections section of Craigslist can be scary. It can also be funny. When Alison Brie and Jimmy Kimmel read them on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," however, the ads are ... sexy.

It really helps to have a saxophonist with Kenny G hair around in order to increase the sexiness.

Brie and Kimmel read the ads on Thursday's (Jan. 30) episode of "Jkl," keeping impressively straight faces as they read about those who had failed to capture love when it presented itself at a Cracker Barrel. There were a disturbing number of missed connections from Wal-Mart as well.

Did any of these lovelorn Craigslist users find what they were looking for? Despite Brie and Kimmel's attempts to make all of this romantic, that may not be possible. And that's Ok -- some things aren't meant to be. »
