Stuart Freeborn was born on September 5, 1914 in Leytonstone, London, England as Stuart W. Freeborn. He is known for his work on Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983). He was married to Kay Freeborn. He died on February 5, 2013 in London.

Father, with Kay Freeborn, of makeup artist Graham Freeborn.
Grandfather of Michelle Freeborn.
His father was an insurance broker who wanted Stuart to take up the same career.
He started out at the Denham studios in the 1930s, where he worked under the auspices of Alexander Korda. He worked with leading stars of the day, including Marlene Dietrich and Vivien Leigh.
When WWII broke out, he trained as a fighter pilot, but almost lost his life to Asian flu and hemophilia.
