Shelagh Fraser was born on November 25, 1920 in Purley, Surrey, England as Sheila Mary Fraser. She was an actress, known for Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), Hope and Glory (1987) and Work Experience (1989). She was married to Anthony Squire. She died on August 29, 2000 in London, England.

Older sister of ballerina and actress Moyra Fraser.
Although she was born in England, both her sister Moyra Fraser, and her "Star Wars" successor, Bonnie Piesse, were born in Australia.
Daughter of John Newton Mappin Fraser who worked for Mappin and Webb Company.
She attended St. Christopher's School in Kingswood, Surrey, England and was awarded a scholarship to the Croydon Repertory Theatre in Croydon, Surrey where she made her debut in 1938.
She appeared in more than 500 radio plays and was a member of the BBC Repertory Company.
Made her theatrical debut in 1944 at the Comedy Theatre in London. Achieved national popularity as the matriarch of the TV series A Family at War (1970), set in Liverpool during the Second World War.
In 1950, she co-authored a play, 'Always Afternoon', and, in the 1970's, wrote two popular children's books.
