Here’s Your First Gruesome Look At The Amityville Murders: A Haunting On Long Island

The Amityville franchise has clocked up an astonishing 18 installments to date. Inspired by the critical and financial success of 1979’s The Amityville Horror (still one of the most commercially successful indie films of all-time), various production companies have been churning out sequels, remakes and re-imaginings for the last couple of decades now.

The most recent is Amityville: The Awakening, shot in 2014 and released straight-to-video last week – our review here. Next up though we’ve got The Amityville Murders: A Haunting on Long Island, and courtesy of Bloody Disgusting, we now have a sneak peek of what’s coming.

The genesis of the series was the experiences of the Lutz family, who moved into a haunted house and experienced all manner of ghostly happenings. The previous occupiers of the house were the DeFeos, who met a grisly end at the hand of patriarch Ronald DeFeo Jr. One misty night, he

Electric Boogaloo, the wild untold story of Cannon Films

Director and documentarian Mark Hartley scores both a film history and comedy success with this ‘wild, untold’ account of the 1980s film studio that was both revered and despised by everyone who had contact with it. The ‘cast list’ of interviewees is encyclopedic, everybody has a strong opinion, and some of them don’t need four-letter words to describe their experience!

Drive-In Dust Offs: Amityville II: The Possession (1982)

Full disclosure: The Amityville Horror films do not make up my favorite franchise. And it has nothing to do with the central “haunted house” premise, but rather the execution of the series thus far, from the serviceable ground zero template, The Amityville Horror (1979) through the (as yet unseen) upcoming Amityville: The Awakening, with some stops in between at DTVville (not to mention the Ryan Reynolds remake; but I said not to mention, so not mention I shall). The name is so shopworn now that “Amityville” has become synonymous with “poopy”.

But, but, But…let’s rewind to a time when a follow up to the kind-of goofy James Brolin (and his glorious perm) starrer was actually anticipated. That film was a smash success at the box office, and the powers that be wanted to revisit the village of Amityville to see what other demons they could find in the basement.

Keanu Reeves Reveals Bill and Ted 3 Storyline

Keanu Reeves Reveals Bill and Ted 3 Storyline
With John Wick Chapter 2 hitting theaters this weekend, Keanu Reeves has been making the press rounds to promote the movie, when talk of another highly-anticipated project came up, the long-awaited Bill & Ted 3. Back in April, Alex Winter, who starred in the first two Bill & Ted movies with Keanu Reeves, teased that shooting may begin soon, but that never happened, while another report from April teasing that the movie may be shot and set in London, featuring a number of important British political figures from the past. We haven't heard anything since then, but Keanu Reeves shed some new light on the story in a recent interview.

Keanu Reeves appeared on the U.K. talk show The Graham Norton Show last week, alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Fifty Shades Darker star Jamie Dornan, when the talk eventually turned to Bill & Ted 3. The actor confirmed that the story will follow Bill & Ted in their 50s,

Class of 1986: Six Horror & Sci-Fi Movies Released in 1986 That Deserve More Love

When it comes to horror and sci-fi movies from 1986, there are several milestone titles that always come to mind first: Aliens, The Fly, Blue Velvet, Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, Manhunter, Poltergeist II: The Other Side, or even Psycho III, just to name a few. But like any great year of cinema, there are always a few underrated gems that get overshadowed along the way and should receive a little extra love. Here are six films from 1986 that I think deserve to be on every genre fan’s radar:

F/X: A movie about a special effects artist who gets mixed up in a government conspiracy, at a time when practical effects were in their heyday? Yes, please. F/X isn’t a film I hear a ton of folks talk about, but it has been on cable a lot lately, which means I’ve spent a few nights revisiting it,

'Bill and Ted 3' Brings the Wyld Stallyns to London?
Fans have been hoping and praying for years that the long-awaited Bill & Ted 3 will get off the ground some day, with original Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter set to return as the title characters. We've known for quite some time that the script by Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson has already been written, with Alex Winter teasing earlier this month that production may either begin at the end of 2016 or the beginning of 2017. Today we have a report from Metro.uk, with an unidentified source claiming that the story brings the Wyld Stallyns to London.

"The script is already written for the third film and much of it is set in the UK. The whole film is going to have a huge British feel. They'll time-travel through London and meet historical figures, meaning the Queen and Winston Churchill could get cameos."

Electric Boogaloo – Doc About Cannon Films Screening at The Tivoli September 17th

Electric Boogaloo was the name of the wacky 1985 sequel to the break dance epic Breakin’ – which I don’t know was worthy of a follow-up but if there was one studio up to the effort in the mid-‘80s, it was Cannon Films. Electric Boogaloo: The Wild Untold Story Of Cannon Films is the title of a new documentary that plays for one night only in St. Louis at Landmark’s The Tivoli Theater Thursday, September 17th at 7pm.

Israeli cousins Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus, prolific salesmen with little regard for quality, bought Cannon Films for half million dollars in 1979 (it was founded in ’67) and turned it into an efficient assembly line of high-concept, action, and exploitation. Lovers of low-brow cinema could always count on a good time when that Cannon Films logo appeared on-screen. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Pt 2, the Sly Stallone arm wrestling opus Over The Top,

What to Watch: Oct. 1-7, 2013

Chicago – Another week of Blu-ray, DVD, and streaming options for you to peruse courtesy of HollywoodChicago.com’s “What to Watch.” Every week, we gather a select few of the most recent Blu-ray & DVD releases, toss in at least one On Demand option we’ve seen, and present them in a checklist order for you to knock out through Amazon, iTunes, Netflix, or good, old-fashioned Blu-ray (yes, that sounds funny to me too). This week’s is the strongest yet by far. Everything in here is worth a look, all the way down to #9. This is just the order you should watch ‘em in more than anything else.

Trailers for The Amityville Horror and Amityville II: The Possession

  • DailyDead
October 1st will see the release of The Amityville Horror Trilogy Blu-ray set and we have a look at the original trailers for The Amityville Horror and Amityville II: The Possession.

“There’s no place like home…for bloodcurdling horror! For George and Kathy Lutz from The Amityville Horror, the colonial house on the river’s edge seemed ideal: quaint, spacious and amazingly affordable. Of course, six brutal murders had taken place there just a year before, but houses don’t have memories…or do they? Soon the Lutz dream house becomes a hellish nightmare, as walls begin to drip blood and satanic forces threaten to destroy them. Now the family must try to escape or forfeit their lives – and their souls! One of the most talked-about haunted house stories of all time, The Amityville Horror is a spine-tingling tale of a house possessed by unspeakable evil. The film stars James Brolin (Christine,

‘The Last American Virgin’ Blu-ray Review

Stars: Lawrence Monoson, Steve Antin, Diane Franklin, Joe Rubbo, Kimmy Robertson, Louisa Moritz | Written and Directed by Boaz Davidson

I’ve long been a fan of The Last American Virgin, no doubt due to my obsessions as a teenager with the ingenue that is Diane Franklin. Having enjoyed Better Off Dead (where she played a French exchange student Monique Junot) and then caught her “stirring” performance in Amityville 2: The Possession I was eager to see more of the sctresses ample charms. And that’s how I discovered Boaz Davidson’s The Last American Virgin

The film follows three friends, Gary (Monoson), Rick (Antin) and David (Rubbo), as they stumble from one sexual escapade to the other, taking in nymphomaniac Latin dance teacher Carmilla (Moritz), a red-headed hooker who gives them crabs and a bevy of teenage girls eager and willing to give it up for a line of coke and a dance.

Blu-ray Review - The Last American Virgin (1982)

The Last American Virgin, 1982.

Directed by Boaz Davidson.

Starring Lawrence Monoson, Steve Antin, Diane Franklin, Joe Rubbo, Kimmy Robertson and Louise Moritz.

Three Californian high school boys find their friendship tested by relationships, sexual desires and growing up...

More intriguing and far stranger than one would expect from first inspection, producer, writer and director Boaz Davidson's The Last American Virgin is something of a amalgam of a sex comedy and a social issue film.

The movie follows Gary (Lawrence Monoson), Rick (Steve Antin) and David (Joe Rubbo), three teenagers struggling to come to terms with growing up, school life, part time work, and more than anything else, the need to get laid. Sharing lewd cues from Porky's (released in the same year) - or, to a more British perspective, something of the sauciness and speeded up action montages of the Carry On films - the film's first half

Event Report: Texas Frightmare Weekend 2013

A year has passed, and another Texas Frightmare Weekend has come and gone! Last year Tfw expanded dramatically with a much larger location to become the Southwest's premier horror con. This year they proved that isn't going to change anytime soon.

This con is so hot that guests have begun just showing up without an invite. Veteran character actor Glenn Morshower ("Millennium", The Crazies 2010) popped up on Friday and was set up in the lobby until Saturday, when a table was located for him in the main room. He was swamped all weekend so it's a good thing he came!

The focus of the con (which ran May 3rd-5th) was originally "The Walking Dead," but with a few cancellations (almost all replaced with other guests, some from "Twd"), the star of the Weekend became Danny "Machete" Trejo, who was mobbed every time he was at his table. The presence
