Derek Francis was born on November 7, 1923 in Brighton, East Sussex, England. He was an actor, known for Scrooge (1970), Carry on Abroad (1972) and The Six Proud Walkers (1962). He was married to Penelope Elsden Smith. He died on March 27, 1984 in Wimbledon, London, England.

Was a brilliant artist and made puppets as his hobby.

He appeared in two different adaptations of the 1843 novella "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens: Scrooge (1970) and A Christmas Carol (1984). He played the 1st Gentleman of Charity in the former and Pemberton in the latter.
