‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Review: CBS All Access Series Shines By Making Space Beautiful — But Also Scary

20 hours ago | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

How you choose to budget your money for television viewing is an understandably personal choice. But listen up, “Star Trek” fans: sign up for your CBS All Access account now, because the most exciting and daring take on the franchise is happening there, and even if you don’t love it right out of the gate, it’s going to create conversations you won’t want to miss.

Star Trek: Discovery,” the first new “Trek” series in 16 years, feels welcomely familiar and also surprisingly fresh, bringing together established iconography and new ideas for a series that, based on the first three episodes screened for critics, exists in a space where nothing, including the status quo, is safe. This is a story about exploration and adventure, but also a story in dialogue with the core values of this franchise, and what those values require of these characters.

Star Trek: Discovery season 2 will deal with the aftermath of the Klingon War

21 August 2017 4:40 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

We’re just a little over a month away from the premiere of Star Trek: Discovery, the new CBS All Access series, which is set to take place around ten years prior to The Original Series and will explore the war between the Federation and the Klingon Empire.

Speaking to Digital Spy, producer Alex Kurtzman has revealed that they intend to wrap up the Klingon War in one season, and that the potential second season will explore the aftermath of the conflict.

“Each season needs to be about a different thing,” said Kurtzman. “I wouldn’t necessarily want to bring the Klingon War into season two. However, the results of the war are going to allow for a lot of new storytelling that will be the result of everything that happens and the people that are left behind; the casualties, the things that have grown in Starfleet as a result of the war. »

With the long-awaited premiere of Star Trek: Discovery now just a little over a month away, producer Akiva Goldsman and showrunners Aaron Harberts and Gretchen J. Berg have been chatting about the new series at the Television Critics Association press tour, discussing everything from the serialised storyline to initial involvement of previous showrunner Bryan Fuller, particularly with regards to overhauling the Klingons.

“You will find this to be far more than serialized than DS9 even in its last two seasons,” said Goldsman. “So this is by far, let me amend it, the most serialized version of Star Trek that has ever existed, and as such, it’s longform character storytelling. Without conflict, there is no longform character storytelling. Obviously, there’s a tremendous amount of conflict in Tos and there’s a lot of, sort of, aspirations towards the ideals of the Federation, and then we sort of made the »
