'The Smurfs' Land In Central Park In New Photo

22 December 2010 2:37 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

"The Smurfs" might not be invading New York City until August 2011, but that doesn't mean that they won't remind us that they're coming. In a new image from the upcoming film, Papa Smurf, Brainy Smurf, Smurfette, Grouchy Smurf, Gutsy Smurf and Panicky Smurf just landed in Central Park on a nice sunny Manhattan day. At least we know they'll make some progress around the city since we first saw them in Times Square.

The film follows the little blue beings after baddie Gargamel (Hank Azaria) finds Smurf village, and they need to flee into a magical portal to escape his wrath -- a development that is so not Smurfy! They end up smack in the middle of Central Park and then have to find their way back home. Along the way they team up with a human named Johan (Neil Patrick Harris), but trouble follows their adventure as Gargamel follows »

Shark Tank: Is Barbara Corcoran Responsible for Season Two?

31 October 2010 10:58 AM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

After a season of disappointing ratings, ABC has decided to give Shark Tank a second season -- albeit a short one of seven episodes. They're also shaking things up a bit by introducing guest "sharks" like Jeff Foxworthy and Mark Cuban.

Some viewers aren't crazy about the idea of introducing celebrity guests to the proceedings but ABC execs didn't have much incentive to renew the series "as is." By making some changes and ordering just a handful of episodes, they're not taking much of a risk and the audience just might grow. ABC network execs tried a similar strategy with Shaq Vs by expanding beyond athletic competitions and with True Beauty by moving the show to Las Vegas.

Savvy entrepreneur Barbara Corcoran also may have played a hand in the renewal of Shark Tank, per a recent item in the New York Post: »

NBC Developing Nascar Family Drama

Exclusive: It's like Parenthood for guys. NBC is developing The Crew, a testosterone-heavy underdog family drama set in the world of Nascar from Heroes writer-producer Joe Pokaski and NBC Universal-based producer Scott Stuber. The ensemble revolves around the family of distinctly different "brothers" on a Nascar racing team who have their own lives and dreams, opportunities and problems -- but as a team share a singular goal to be the best. There have been a number of Nascar-themed projects developed at the broadcast networks in the past several years, including an animated Fox series about a dysfunctional family involved in Nascar starring Jeff Foxworthy. What sets The Crew apart is that it is expected to be done in cooperation with Nascar. NBC is in negotiations with the racing league for the rights to use its name, logos, tracks, race footage, etc. Stuber already has a similar arrangement with Nascar on »

Jeff Foxworthy on His Newest Children’s Book

Courtesy of Beaufort Books

Though Jeff Foxworthy‘s daughters have hit the teenage years, the comedian stays plugged into the younger set thanks to his hosting gig on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?.

But he finds an even deeper connection with children through books, including his recently released third kid-friendly tome, Hide!!! (illustrated by Steve Bjorkman), in bookstores Oct. 19.

It tells the story of a neighborhood game of hide-and-seek, and challenges young readers to find hidden illustrations on each page.

“I read to my girls when they were little, and they loved I Spy, Where’s Waldo?,” he tells People Moms & Babies. »

Shark Tank: Mark Cuban Joins the Sharks for Season Two

20 September 2010 2:17 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

ABC recently decided to renew Shark Tank for a second season. Though the TV show's ratings haven't been very good, the network opted to give it another shot, albeit a limited one. They ordered just eight new installments and have one left over from season one.

In addition to Shark Tank regulars Barbara Corcoran, Kevin Harrington, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, and Kevin O’Leary, comedian and entrepreneur Jeff Foxworthy will join the panel for at least three episodes.

ABC has now added an additional shark, Mark Cuban. He's the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, the chairman of the HDNet cable channel, a former Dancing with the Stars contestant, and an experienced entrepreneur. Cuban will join the venture capitalist panel for three episodes. Presumably, the Foxworthy and Cuban guest shots won't overlap.

Mark Cuban will appear on Shark Tank

Dallas Mavericks owner and former reality star Mark Cuban will join Shark Tank's panel of sharks for three episodes in its second season. This makes infinitely more sense than the show's addition of Jeff Foxworthy as a shark for three of the new season's eight episodes. The Hollywood Reporter calls this "pitch-perfect casting. Five years ago, Mark had his own The Apprentice-style show called The Benefactor, which led to the two rich men verbally slapping »

Mark Cuban joining ABC's 'Shark Tank'

18 September 2010 7:00 PM, PDT | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

Entertainment entrepreneur Mark Cuban is joining ABC's "Shark Tank" for the show's second season.

The owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks and chairman of cable channel HDNet will be a guest venture capitalist for three episodes.

The pitch-perfect casting has the always-opinionated Cuban joining the regular panel of self-made multimillionaires judging business ventures pitched by enterprising small-business owners.

He joins the more unusual and previously announced casting of comedian Jeff Foxworthy, who also will appear in three episodes. Even before the second season was announced, producers received more than 20,000 inquiries from entrepreneurs who wanted to pitch their ideas.

"Shark" is produced by Mark Burnett Prods. and Sony Pictures TV and will return next season. »
