Although Foster was good friends with Steve McQueen, and the actor was very disappointed that Foster didn't want to use the big box office megastar in his first film, "McCabe and Mrs. Miller." Foster says he wanted to prove to himself and all concerned that he needed McQueen as a crutch. After that first success, he quickly cast McQueen in his second film, "The Getaway.". See more »
