Changed his name in 1954 from John Fontaine to Jeffrey Stone because it was too close to the name of actress Joan Fontaine. During their Selznick years at the same studio, the actors kept receiving each mail for the other. One time at a premiere he was even embarrassingly introduced as Joan Fontaine. See more »
