Woody Allen is desperate to prevent Mia Farrow taking the stand in an upcoming court case - he fears "lurid" allegations from their custody battle will be dredged up once more.
The Annie Hall director launched a $10 million (£6.6 million) lawsuit again clothing giant American Apparel after company bosses used his image on billboard ads in New York and Los Angeles without his permission.
And in the latest round of legal arguments, the moviemaker wants his former girlfriend Farrow and Hustler tycoon Larry Flynt barred from giving evidence in the case - because it will turn the hearing into a "spectacle", according to the New York Daily News.
In legal papers, attorney Christian Carbone writes, “It is clear that the unproven allegations from the custody dispute will be used in a most lurid manner.”
Allen and Farrow were in a relationship for 12 years from 1980, but underwent a bitter battle for custody of their son Ronan and two adopted children following their split in 1992.

Hustler boss Larry Flynt is to turn off the lights at his famous Los Angeles headquarters for an hour on Saturday night to raise environmental awareness.
The famous publisher's landmark building will go dark as part of a global Vote Earth campaign.
Flynt, the subject of the movie The People Vs. Larry Flynt, will join millions of people around the world in the fight against global warming by shutting off power to the sky-rise Flynt Building in Beverly Hills.
Liz Flynt, Senior Vice President, Administration for Larry Flynt Publications says, "We’re hoping people who see such a well-known local landmark so unusually dark will follow our lead and do the same in their own homes. A group effort such as this can lead to real change."
The Flynt Building will join other famed structures, like the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum and the Sydney Opera House, which have all turned off the lights in support of the World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour initiative.
And Las Vegas performers Donny and Marie Osmond will front a big pull-the-plug effort in Sin City on Saturday night.

Unlike the Oscars, the Golden Globes combine the original and adapted screenplay categories. Though you wouldn’t know that this year: all five nominees are adaptations, including Simon Beaufoy's adaptation of the novel "Q&A" by Vikas Swarup into the screenplay for "Slumdog Millionaire." Four of these five scripters were nominated by the WGA last week ("The Reader" was snubbed in favor of "The Dark Knight"). Does this victory bode well for a "Slumdog Millionaire" victory as best drama picture? Over the last 12 years, the screenplay prize was won seven times by best-picture champs, five times by losers ("No Country for Old Men," "The Queen, "Traffic," "Good Will Hunting," "People vs. Larry Flynt").

The Big Three have some competition from the Smutty Two. Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis and publishing mogul Larry Flynt have penned a letter to Congress requesting a $5 billion bailout for... wait for it... the pornography industry. "The government is handing out money," Francis tells E! News. "They're moving toward a nationalized economy and Larry and I felt we might as well be a part of it." The boob-fueled empire builder seems to be referring to the recent $700 billion bailout package, including about $17 billion for General Motors and Chrysler, authorized late last year by President George W. Bush to get the nation's economy back on its feet. "People are too...

Porn moguls Larry Flynt and Joe Francis are appealing to the U.S. Congress to grant the adult entertainment industry a $5 billion (GBP3.3 billion) bail out - because it is suffering from the global economic meltdown just as much as others.
Hustler magazine entrepreneur Flynt claims adult DVD sales have plummeted in the last 12 months, with figures down 22 per cent from 2007.
He says, "With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind. It's time for Congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America."
Meanwhile, Girls Gone Wild creator Francis is planning to travel to Washington D.C. to make his point heard, because he's adamant the porn industry is a key part of the U.S. economy - just like the financial and motor institutions.
He tells TMZ.com, "Congress seems willing to help shore up our nation's most important businesses; we feel we deserve the same consideration."

Hustler magazine boss Larry Flynt is suing his nephews for using the family name to start a new porn enterprise - without his permission.
The publisher fears Jimmy Flynt II and Dustin Flynt will produce "inferior product" that will tarnish his name as they embark on their own porn film venture.
Flynt tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "To come into the adult entertainment business and use my name not only confuses people who buy my products... it could also hurt my name."
But the brothers insist "it's our turn to be successful in this business."
Before branching out on their own the Flynt brothers worked for their uncle for more than a decade. Larry Flynt fired them for being unproductive and claims he gave each of them a generous severance package.
Flynt alleges they used the cash to start a competitive company.
The Hustler boss admits he has seen his nephews' first films and was unimpressed.
