Matt Edwards Nov 13, 2017

Edgar Wright chats to us about making Baby Driver, A Fistful Of Fingers, Bad Boys 3 and what he's up to next...

There’s a scene in Baby Driver, Edgar Wright’s hit crime film from this summer that’s just being released on home video now, where the eponymous Baby is warned by a more experienced criminal that everyone in their game eventually ends up with blood on their hands and that it doesn’t wash off so easily. Baby plays it cool. Later Baby is given some driving gloves that are white leather on one side and red leather on the other. And, later in the movie, when he thinks he’s clear of the game he takes the gloves off, removing the red from his palms, soon to discover that blood really doesn’t wash off quite so easily.

The Top 12 Composers of the 21st Century, From Hans Zimmer to Nick Cave
In an age where special effects reign supreme, there’s one aspect of the filmmaking process that hasn’t gone through a radical transformation — music. Some of the best movies in any given year would be sorely lacking without their memorable scores, and this has remained true well into the first two decades of the 21st century.

Film composers play an integral part in the filmmaking process, and there are a handful whose bodies of work stand out in recent years. Of course, this list of 12 major composers only begins to scratch the surface of the talent out there. There are plenty of other worthy contributors to the medium who didn’t make the cut — Danny Elfman and John Williams, we’re looking at you — but rest assured that this top dozen represent the cream of the crop.

Baby Driver review – boy racer hits all the right notes

A young getaway driver’s playlist helps him stay in the fast lane in Edgar Wright’s exhilarating car-chase thriller musical

After wisely walking away from the car crash of Marvel’s 2015 film Ant-Man, Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright is back in the fast lane with his most thrillingly cinematic romp. A romantic musical disguised as a car-chase thriller, Baby Driver combines the over-cranked action fantasies of Hot Fuzz with the poptastic sensibilities of Scott Pilgrim vs the World. At its centre is Ansel Elgort’s eponymous getaway driver, who uses earphones to drown out the “hum-in-the-drum” of tinnitus (the result of a childhood accident) and orchestrates his life to carefully chosen iPod playlists. Whether he’s burning rubber or fixing a peanut butter sandwich (“right up to the edges”), this former joyrider spins his wheels and records with the same infectious exuberance. Think An American in Paris meets The French Connection,

Edgar Wright takes a detour with “Baby Driver”

You know an Edgar Wright film when you see one. From his signature directorial style to his pop culture heavy writing, he does something truly unique. It’s not a stretch to say that there’s no one else in the industry quite like him. This week, Wright unleashes Baby Driver, which is in equal measure both very much like what’s come before for him and very much something new. Wright is embracing genre in a way that he has never really done before. I saw the film last week and liked it quite a bit, though it’s a flick that I think is a bit overpraised, if we’re being honest. More below. The movie is an action packed one, chock full of music. Young getaway driver Baby (Ansel Elgort) sets everything in his life to music, even the heists he pulls off for Doc (Kevin Spacey

'Baby Driver': How Edgar Wright Staged the Crime Movie's Musical Action Scenes

'Baby Driver': How Edgar Wright Staged the Crime Movie's Musical Action Scenes
Edgar Wright was, by his own account, "21 years old, living in North London, broke and on the dole – that's British for 'welfare'" in 1995 when he was struck by what he can only compare to a near-religious vision. The filmmaker was in the process of editing his first movie, a low-budget Spaghetti western homage, but the future director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had nothing lined up and no sense of what he really wanted to do with his life. And then he put on "Bellbottoms," the first

Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver Soundtrack will feature eclectic music royalty with the likes of Queen, Barry White and Blur

Author: Zehra Phelan

Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver couldn’t very well have a limp wristed soundtrack to pound the ears of our fast paced getaway driver so who better to lend a few musical strings than the likes of Queen, Blur, Beck and (obviously) Simon and Garfunkel.

The onus falls heavily on a music based theme and heavy weights tracks are needed to help Baby (Ansel Elgort) in order to time bank robbery getaways with beat perfect precision. Baby Driver Trailer #2 Brings Fast Cars, Hot Beats and Blazing Guns

Baby Driver Trailer #2 Brings Fast Cars, Hot Beats and Blazing Guns
Sony Pictures has unveiled a new trailer for their highly-anticipated action-comedy Baby Driver, which showcases a modern-day remix of a classic song. The trailer itself is dubbed "TeKillYah," because the footage is set to a remix of The Champs' iconic 1958 song "Tequila," which children of the 1980s will certainly remember from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Much like the movie is set to the soundtrack of young Baby (Ansel Elgort), this trailer is perfectly in sync with this "TeKillYah" remix.

Sony Pictures debuted this new trailer on YouTube today, which also features a number of glowing quotes from some of the nation's critics, one of whom states that this movie "uses music the way the rest of us use air." It's clear that this "TeKillYah" remix is actually used in the movie, with a new scene featuring this bank robbing crew meeting an associate, who asks what Baby is listening to. When
