He acted in Lesley Storm's play, "The Day's Mischief," at the Duke of York's Theatre in London, England with Muriel Pavlow, Ian Hunter, Catherine Lacey, and Beatrix Lehmann in the cast.

In his youth, he was briefly active on the Stock Exchange before training at RADA for an acting career. Began on stage in 1922, in films ten years later. His best spell was from the mid-1940's, notably as Dr. Fenton The Fallen Idol
