Salvation has been renewed for season 2

Michael Ahr Kirsten Howard Oct 20, 2017

Salvation season 2 is now assured, after the meteor-headed-for-earth thriller struck a note with audiences...

CBS has given Salvation season 2 the go-ahead - the disaster thriller has landed a renewal at the network. The show was a modest ratings winner this summer with its tale of a meteor headed for Earth, and since the production is owned by the network's CBS Television Studios (in league with Secret Hideout) the renewal is no big surprise.

The series follows MIT student Liam Cole (Charlie Rowe) as his graduate project reveals a celestial object on a collision course with Earth. His eventual involvement with tech genius Darius Tanz (Santiago Cabrera) leads to a connection with top secret government forces led by Secretary of Defense Harris Edwards (Ian Anthony Dale) working to combat the problem. Defense press secretary Grace Barrows (Jennifer Finnigan) bridges the two groups as the effort to

Performer of the Week: Paula Malcomson

Performer of the Week: Paula Malcomson
The Performer | Paula Malcomson

The Show | Ray Donovan

The Episode | “Shelley Duvall” (Sept. 17, 2017)

The Performance | We’re still not happy with Ray Donovan for saddling Abby with terminal cancer, but damn if Malcomson’s tour-de-force performance isn’t providing us with one helluva silver lining. And that was especially true in Sunday’s episode, which found Abby at her most emotionally and physically vulnerable as the disease continued its lethal progression.

A remote ice-skating rink provided the setting for what would be Malcomson’s strongest work on the show to date, as Ray (Liev Schreiber) “bullied” his pale, withered other

After the Salvation Finale: Does This Show Need a Season Two?

The Salvation finale aired Wednesday on CBS – and it was quite a ride! (Stay tuned for its review!) Hopefully this episode was a season finale and not a series finale. When Salvation star Jennifer Finnigan discovered out she was pregnant, she knew exactly how she wanted to find out the sex of her baby.

“I said, ‘We have to get a reveal cake,’ ” Finnigan tells People of a conversation she had with her husband, actor/director Jonathan Silverman.

“And, of course, I wanted it to be gluten-free and vegan. I’m not even vegan … I think I just wanted to be able to eat the whole thing and feel like it was kinda healthy!”

Stave off the government, save the world?

That is presumably the plan for Salvation’s Harris, Grace, Darius and Liam as CBS’ new summertime drama launches its freshman finale tonight at a special time, 10/9c. Having discovered that President MacKenzie was A) indeed targeted for assassination by a treasonous cabal but B) actually survived and has been holed away by trusted allies, Harris is getting in bed with the enemy (so to speak?) by cozying up to the White House chief of staff as part of a plan to overthrow newly installed President Bennett’s ruthless, asteroid-sympathetic regime and get

A Preview of Tonight on Salvation: Loves, Losses…and Lies

Tonight on Salvation is the fallout from last week’s explosive episode. (If you missed it, check out my recap-review of Coup de Grace.) Think of the opening of Star Wars: Return of Jedi. Things got worse before they got better. Expect the same tonight on Salvation. The things getting worse part will be in full affect! First of all, the teaser after Coup de Grace had the tech genius Darius Tanz (Santiago Cabrera) seemingly telling the Pentagon Press Secretary Grace Barrows (Jennifer Finnigan) that she’s betrayed him in some way. Editing can be deceptive, so we’ll have to wait and see.

TV Review: ‘Salvation’ on CBS

TV Review: ‘Salvation’ on CBS
There’s a point in “Salvation,” CBS’ newest summer sci-fi offering, where one of the series’ two geniuses runs down all the obstacles that currently stand in the way of them saving all of humanity from the impending asteroid hurtling toward Earth. The series’ other genius reacts not with a calming response or even a clear solution, but instead with a quip: “If Superman caught the villain on page two, what fun would that be?”

That’s certainly an understandable argument for the sake of storytelling; after all, the writers only have 13 episodes (so far) to tell the story of an asteroid that’s six months away from destroying all of humanity. The problem is, “Salvation” quickly proves itself to lack a key point in that quip: Fun.

From former “Hawaii Five-0” writer Matt Wheeler and the showrunning team of Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro (who previously ran the second season of “Extant”) “Salvation” takes the always
