TNT picks up David E. Kelley's 'Monday Mornings' for 2013

8 May 2012 3:10 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

TNT has ordered David E. Kelley's medical drama "Monday Mornings" to series, giving the prolific writer-producer his first show on cable.

The series, previously known as "Chelsea General," will debut next year on TNT and follow a group of doctors in their professional and personal lives, centering on their morbidity and mortality conferences that take place every Monday (hence the title). Kelley co-created the show with neurosurgeon and CNN regular Dr. Sanjay Gupta; it's based on Gupta's book of the same name.

The show stars Alfred Molina ("Law & Order: La"), Ving Rhames ("Mission: Impossible," "Pulp Fiction), Jamie Bamber ("Battlestar Galactica"), Jennifer Finnigan ("Better With You"), Keong Sim ("Glee"), Emily Swallow ("Southland," "Ringer"), Bill Irwin ("CSI") and Sarayu Rao ("Sons of Tucson").

"Monday Mornings" will be the first medical drama for TNT since it canceled "Hawthorne" last year. It's scheduled to premiere in summer 2013. »

TNT Picks Up David E. Kelley Hospital Drama

8 May 2012 2:25 PM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

TNT has ordered ten episodes of David E. Kelley's new hospital drama Monday Mornings, the network announced today. The show, which Kelley created with Sanjay Gupta, is set in a Portland, Oregon, hospital and stars Ving Rhames, Bill Irwin, Alfred Molina, Jamie Bamber, and Jennifer Finnigan, among others, and takes its name from the weekly morbidity and mortality conferences. Fans of doctor shows recognize those meetings as the harrowing interrogations that almost always end in our heroic doctor shouting, "I did everything I could!" and his/her mean mentor/rival shouting back, "That's what scares me!" »

USA Pilots ‘Wild Card’ & ‘Over/Under’ Not Going Forward

28 March 2012 1:00 PM, PDT | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

USA Network has made it official — drama pilots Over/Under and Wild Card will not be going forward. The pilots had been in limbo since they were screened by USA brass back in November. Over/Under, in particular, had strong supporters at USA, but its darker tones reportedly divided the network brass. The chances for both pilots got even dimmer when USA in January gave a straight-to-series, six-episode order to Greg Berlanti’s Political Animals, which will launch in the summer when USA would’ve premiered a newly picked-up drama. Wild Card, starring Jennifer Finnigan and Ben Lawson, and Over/Under, starring Steven Pasquale, were two of three drama pilots USA greenlighted back in November 2010. Last year, the network passed on the third pilot from that group, Eden. USA has two other pilots still in contention: an untitled drama from White Collar creator Jeff Eastin drama and a comedy starring Nathan Lane. »
