- Wilfred Fienburgh was born on November 4, 1919 in Romford, Essex, England, UK. Wilfred was a writer, known for No Love for Johnnie (1961). Wilfred died on February 3, 1958 in Mill Hill, London, England, UK.
- He left school at 16 and spent a good part of the next four years unemployed. However, his war service from 1939 to 1945 was distinguished and he became a man to watch in the post-war Labour Party. He was regarded as being on the left of the party and was not always popular; his only novel, "No Love for Johnnie", was published posthumously.
- He was an outspoken member of the Labour Party and a serving Member of Parliament for many years. His novel, "No Love For Johnnie" was seen honest self-criticism from a man whose faith in socialism never wavered; the 1961 film version, which appeared after his death, was savaged by many critics for converting the story into a piece of Conservative propaganda.
- He was killed on February 3rd, 1958, when he accidentally drove his car into a lamp-post in a London street.
- His first attempt to become a Member of Parliament was in the 1945 general election, when he stood as Labour candidate in the Pembrokeshire constituency. He lost, but reduced the majority of the long-standing Liberal M.P., Gwilym Lloyd George, to just 168 votes. At that time, Pembrokeshire had never had a Labour M.P.; however, at the next general election (in 1950), a different Labour candidate was returned, and held the seat for twenty years.
