BBC America Adds New American ‘Top Gear’ to Slate

BBC America Adds New American ‘Top Gear’ to Slate
Two “Top Gears,” no waiting, for BBC America viewers. The AMC Networks channel has ordered an eight-episode season of “Top Gear America” to join the original flavor “Top Gear” in its lineup.

The previous U.S. version of “Top Gear” had a six-season run on A+E Networks-owned History before being canceled in 2016. Produced by BBC Worldwide, it was hosted by Adam Ferrara, Rutledge Wood, and Tanner Foust.

BBC America’s “Top Gear America,” also produced by BBC Worldwide, will be hosted by William Fichtner, world champion drag racer Antron Brown, and British automotive journalist Tom “Wookie” Ford. The three will race various vehicles along the scenic highways and historic tracks of the American west and, in “Top Gear” tradition, each episode will feature a celebrity guest racing around a track in an attempt to beat other celebrities’ times and will include the presence of mysterious masked driver The Stig.

Top Gear: Us Version of Series Cancelled by History?

[caption id="attachment_51582" align="aligncenter" width="590"] (History)/caption]

It looks as though the Us version of the Top Gear TV show on History has been cancelled after six seasons. Based on the BBC series of the same name (which airs on BBC America in the States), History's Top Gear is hosted by Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara, and Rutledge Wood. Via social media, Wood shared that the Tuesday, June 28 episode (tomorrow's) of Top Gear is the last episode produced.

While Wood thinks the show could still continue somewhere, his remarks make it sound as though he is certain Top Gear has completed its final lap on History. He said, in part, "I don't think the show is done, it appears that it's done with our friends at History, and we're incredibly grateful for being a part of the A&E Networks family."

Jeremy Clarksons around the world: What Top Gear looks like in Australia, South Korea and beyond

Despite winding people up wherever they roam, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond actually made the biggest show in the world, with Top Gear apparently boasting 350 million viewers in 214 countries.

Top Gear may have a very British sense of humour, but this hasn't stopped several nations launching their own versions.

China

Top Gear is truly taking over the world, as it has now landed its own Chinese version on Shanghai Dragon Television, after an initial attempt back in 2011.

There is of course a Chinese Stig and the usual features, with BBC Worldwide stating that it "mirrors the UK show's irreverent humour, presenter camaraderie, epic races, outrageous stunts and challenges, unique celebrity guest participation, and its often eccentric methods of testing cars".

It is hosted by veteran TV host Cheng Lei, Taiwanese singer Richie Jen and former Olympic diving gold medallist Tian Liang. What a team! They certainly look a

Nurse Jackie Refused to Soften Jackie Till the Bitter End

Nurse Jackie Refused to Soften Jackie Till the Bitter End
Nurse Jackie was never quite a perfect show. Beautifully performed, certainly. Gutsy in its antiheroism. But bumpy. There were the super-heavy elements of Jackie's ongoing addiction and its ability to eclipse everything else in her life, sometimes balanced by the inviting warmth of Merritt Wever's performance as the irrepressible Zoey. But those things never paired that well with Akalitus's more slapstick humor, or Coop's chronic inappropriateness, or O'Hara's … anything. The show cycled through guest stars — Bobby Cannavale, Adam Ferrara, Morris Chestnut, Julie White, Laura Benanti, and, most recently, Tony Shalhoub and Mark Feuerstein — and seemingly high-stakes story lines. Yet despite the trail of death and destruction she left in her wake, nothing much seemed to stick for Jackie. Relapse is part of recovery, but Jackie relapsed more than she recovered, which is why her character's end felt fair, if not welcome. Addiction, man. It'll kill you.Or maybe

The Most Vicious Zingers from Past Celebrity Roasts

  • VH1.com
Tonight, The Roast of Justin Bieber will air on Comedy Central and the masses will get what they’ve long been waiting for: a public shaming of Justin Bieber. Of course, some of the special’s most notable put-downs of the pop star have been publicized, including insults from the likes of Roast master Kevin Hart (“Justin’s Canadian. He’s actually considered American, because no Canadian has ever been this much of an asshole”), Shaquille O’Neal (“Last year you were ranked the fifth most hated person of all time. Kim Jong-un didn’t even score that low, and he uses your music to fuckin’ torture people”), and Jeffrey Ross (“You’ve become a cocky little shit. You are the King Joffrey of pop”).

While Bieber’s burns are definitely scorching, he’s hardly the only Roastee to get royally humiliated during their special. As we count down to The Roast of Justin Bieber,

Nurse Jackie Renewed for 7th Season

  • Vulture
Nurse Jackie Renewed for 7th Season
Showtime has renewed Nurse Jackie for a seventh season, the network announced today. Jackie's sixth season starts April 13, so this is a pretty early renewal by Showtime standards. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peter Facinelli will not be a regular on season seven, which is probably a good thing, since his character, Dr. Cooper, is the worst, both in the sense that all the characters dislike him and also the fact that his presence does not help the story arc of the show. There's a lot to love about Nurse Jackie, namely Edie Falco Jackie, Merritt Wever's fantastic Zoey, and Adam Ferrara as Jackie's down-to-earth cop boyfriend. But then the show goes to loopy town with Anna Deavere Smith's Dr. Akalitus and Facinelli's Coop, and it's like a humanely explored story about a recovering addict is suddenly a weird slapstick comedy about morons.

‘Nurse Jackie’ Renewed for Seventh Season
Prior to premiering its sixth season, Showtime announced that its hit show, “Nurse Jackie,” has been renewed for a seventh season.

The sixth season will follow Falco’s title character as she returns to the demons of her addiction and tries to cope with a real relationship (Adam Ferrara), an ex-husband (Dominic Fumusa), a daughter who is growing up way too fast (Ruby Jerins) and a sponsor whom she can’t seem to shake (guest star Julie White).

'Top Gear': Adam Ferrara's new Buick 225 won't fit in his garage

Zap2it: What's new in your auto stable?

Adam Ferrara: From the show this year, I bought a '70 deuce-and-a-quarter (a Buick 225). It is eight inches too big for my garage. I have three garages; it doesn't fit in any of them. I'm driving a shopping center, that's how big that is. We were shooting in Detroit; there was a purple '65 Pontiac Bonneville convertible with a white top. It was absolutely beautiful. You look inside, and the guy had that stupid barefoot(-shaped) gas pedal, and I was like, "Aargh!"

Zap2it: For a car-loving guy, what's it like to visit Detroit, which has fallen far from its days as Motor City, the epicenter of the American car industry?

Adam Ferrara: We actually shot our police car episode at an old Packard factory. It was like going to the ruins in Greece. It was exciting. The current state of affairs in Detroit,

'Nurse Jackie' Season 5 finale review: Jackie's relapse could be a fresh start

"Nurse Jackie" finished off a wildly uneven Season 5 with an inevitable ending: Jackie fell off the wagon and started using again, at the exact time her friends and family were celebrating her year of sobriety.

We knew this was coming ever since last season, when Jackie (Edie Falco) bolted out of rehab before finishing the program. There's also the fact that this show is designed to track the trials and tribulations of an addict -- something that's a lot harder to do with a sober lead. What's disappointing is that Season 5 never did much to raise the stakes for that moment.

Maybe Jackie's perfunctory relapse will help straighten out the show, which struggled to find its way after the unprecedented highs of Season 4. A big shift behind-the-scenes -- creators and former showrunners Liz Brixius and Linda Wallem departed their roles and "Dexter" producer Clyde Phillips stepped in -- led to

By Eddy Friedfeld

Actor/comedian Adam Ferrara used to fight fires with Denis Leary on Rescue Me. He now drives way too fast on Top Gear. This season he is trading witty banter and love scenes with Edie Falco. As New York City Police Sergeant Frank Verelli, his scenes with Falco are as funny and even hotter than those with the crew of the fictional “62 Truck.”

Nurse Jackie, the superb Showtime comedy drama about hospitals, addiction, friendship, and family, with the former Carmella Soprano, the brilliant Edie Falco, leading a magnificent cast and guest stars including Merritt Wever, Paul Schulze, Dominic Fumusa, Anna Deavere Smith and Peter Facinelli, Bobby Cannavale, Morris Chestnut, Stephen Wallem, Betty Gilpin, and Ferrara.

As the fifth season wraps up this Sunday night, the show is still smart, tight, and interesting and has just

Nurse Jackie’s Adam Ferrara on Playing Edie Falco’s Love Interest and Not Wanting to Kiss Like a Fish
[Spoilers ahead] Jackie finally got a promising (and sober!) relationship on Nurse Jackie this season, courtesy of stand-up comic Adam Ferrara, who played the warm and likable cop Frank Verelli, a guy who gave Jackie quirky gifts and a high-five after sex. Now that the couple has exchanged I love yous, we expect to see a lot more of Ferrara’s character on the show — assuming Jackie’s recent relapse doesn't get in the way. Ferrara spoke to Vulture ahead of this Sunday’s season-five finale (which is already available on demand) about booty calls, tattoos, and kissing Edie Falco. You watch Game of Thrones, but didn't read the books, I learned from your Twitter ... Man, the Red Wedding! I thought there were fights at my family gatherings, but wow!
