HDNet Movies presents a special Sneak Preview of the movie “Wonderful World“, starring Matthew Broderick Wednesday, January 6 at 8:00 p.m. Et.

Critics are raving about “Wonderful World”. The Hollywood Reporter says,

Matthew Broderick delivers his best screen role in quite a while.”

And, Paul Fischer of Dark Horizons says that,

“Wonderful World is one of the most beautiful movie surprises of the season. A masterful, deeply human and emotive work featuring a stunning performance by Mathew Broderick.”

A bittersweet comedy about families, friends and a frivolous fight against corporate institutions, Matthew Broderick (Finding Amanda, The Producers) plays Ben Singer, a failed children’s folk singer, a newly unemployed proofreader and an every-other-weekend dad to his young daughter (Jodelle Ferland), who prefers pretty much anything to listening to her dad’s pessimistic ramblings.

Running Late

27 December 2009 9:51 PM, PST | ifc.com | See recent IFC news »

As we wind down to year's end, we find Michael Haneke's Cannes conqueror fashionably late to the party, while Paramount waited three years to release the Renée Zellweger horror flick "Case 39" and a mere half-century later, audiences will finally see the fruits of an unproduced Tennessee Williams screenplay. Throw in a pair of modern Korean films and you've got yourself an exciting way to start the new year.

"Case 39"

We can only hope it's no reflection of quality that this latest volley from the creepy-kid subgenre sat on the shelf for so long that its director, Christian Alvart, had another project (daffy sci-fi chiller "Pandorum") wrapped, released and mostly ignored before this domestic thriller even made it to our shores. The German helmer's English-language debut (at least chronologically) has Renée Zellweger »

Brittany Murphy's Uso Tour Appearance, 'Avatar' In 3D And 'Toy Story 3' Finished In Today's Twitter-Wood

22 December 2009 3:30 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Brittany Murphy and "Avatar" look poised to dominated Twitter-Wood's thoughts this holiday week, even if most of the tweeters are leaving their offices to tweet from home and last-minute shopping expeditions right now. Alyssa Milano retweeted a photo taken when she and Murphy appeared on a Uso tour together, reflecting on the time they spent there. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Banks, Samm Levine and David Spade all had different reactions to "Avatar" in 3D.

You can sort out what they had to say after the jump along with a former "Saved By the Bell" star's denial of drunken behavior, Kevin Smith's response to a tweeter about his wife's Playboy photos and former Karate Kid Ralph Macchio on whether or not he plans on coming back to "Ugly Betty." It's all retweeted in the Twitter-Wood report for December 22, 2009.

The littlest cast member of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Jodelle Ferland, is no newcomer to the film world. You might remember her as "Jeliza-Rose" in Tideland and "Sharon" in Silent Hill. Of course, she's been in quite a few other pictures over the years as well, including Good Luck Chuck, The Messengers (with Kristen Stewart), and Seed. One of her films, Wonderful World with Matthew Broderick and Sanaa Lathan, opens in theaters on January 8th, according to MTV, and a clip of Jodelle Ferland's performance a »

The Notable Films of 2010: Part Two

16 December 2009 3:18 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Case 39

Opens: January 1st 2010

Cast: Renée Zellweger, Jodelle Ferland, Ian McShane, Bradley Cooper, Kerry O'Malley

Director: Christian Alvart

Summary: A family services social worker thinks she has seen it all until she meets her newest, most mysterious case - a troubled 10-year old girl whose parents try to kill her. The social worker decides to take her in herself until the right foster family comes along.

Analysis: Despite the presence of promising German director Christian Alvart ("Pandorum"), 'Case' has sat on a shelf since late 2006 and is finally being quietly shuffled out this year for one very good reason - it stinks. Having opened in Australia a few months back, reviewers utterly savaged the film as both incredibly dumb and utterly ludicrous. Lead star Renee Zellweger also scored personal criticism to a level rarely seen in film reviews outside of comments about Nicole Kidman's 'more alien than the »

Exclusive: Jodelle Ferland Dances For Matthew Broderick In This Clip From 'Wonderful World'

8 December 2009 7:00 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

A good part of the world is always going to see Ferris Bueller when they look at Matthew Broderick, and that's fine. Not every actor is afforded the opportunity to craft a character as memorable and iconic as the high school troublemaker, so Broderick deserves the recognition. He's had other roles though, and more often than not, he's shined in them (see also: "Election").

Broderick's latest is "Wonderful World," a family drama in which the actor plays a divorcee who willfully avoids falling in love again. If the exclusive clip below is any indication, he may not find much success there. Khadi (Sanaa Lathan), who comes to live with Broderick's Ben Singer as a roommate following a series of random events, teaches Singer daughter Sandra (Jodelle Ferland) how to dance while dear old dad watches. And that's not all dear old dad is watching. You can see "Wonderful World" on Amazon, »

He's also the most negative man alive. Indie Trailer Sunday: Matthew Broderick in Wonderful World

29 November 2009 8:10 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

I don't know how Matthew Broderick lost all of his star power, but he's showing up in a lot of new indies recently. I still love the guy, but it's a little odd seeing him in so many of these. Apple recently debuted the trailer for Joshua Goldin's Wonderful World starring Matthew Broderick, Jodelle Ferland, and Michael K. Williams. It looks like a combination of The Visitor and Brothers, where an apathetic guy gets a taste of culture from a new housemate and starts to fall in love with her, too. It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look that great either. I may check it out, because I like Broderick, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think? 'Twilight' Actors Without Clothes, The 'New Moon' Premiere And Dog Accounts In Today's Twitter-Wood

6 November 2009 4:30 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

The Twitter-Wood feed started following its first canine today, as recent hacking victim and "Eclipse" actress Jodelle Ferland tweeted a pic referencing her dog "Genevieve Ferland." According to @gena_fur's Twitter account, Genevieve recently turned five, hates nail clippers and dressed as a princess last year for Halloween.

Lack of clothing was on the minds of two other "Twilight" series actors, though, as Tinsel Korey seems to have not yet found a dress for the "New Moon" premiere, and Charlie Bewley reported on his love of not wearing anything. Remarkably, I made none of this up. Check it out, along with an award Arnold Schwarzenegger recently presented to Kirk Douglas, a scandalous "Full House" photo and the reason "Iron Man 2" will show up to theaters late if it gets delayed. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for November 6, 2009.

Sideshow freaks scare in Adelle trailer

2 November 2009 1:24 PM, PST | QuietEarth.us | See recent QuietEarth news »

Earlier in the year we posted a teaser trailer for Adelle, a little thriller from Andy Davis, the man behind the post apocalyptic zombie film 2. It’s the story of Adelle, a young deaf girl who is abandoned by her parents in the middle of nowhere only to end up in the midst of a nightmarish adventure.

The film stars Madeline McNulty as the wide eyed little girl who follows a white rabbit (in reality a man in a freakishly creepy bunny suit) into a world reminiscent of a traveling sideshow and populated by individuals even stranger and creepier than the white rabbit (hard to believe but true!).

There's a new full length trailer for the film which provides a little additional footage but what I can't quite figure out is what part of this story is actually happening and what is part of Adelle's imagination (one thing is for »

Movie Trailers Movies BlogMTV What is the biggest difference in your opinion between the three Twilight books that are currently being filmed as the Saga?Elizabeth Reaser Oh well all three films are completely different. The first one is a vampire romance a crazy love affair. Theres so much sexual tension and romantic tension and nothing ever goes down youre going insane the whole time and theyre falling in love and its amazing. In the second one obviously Bella is left behind and her and Taylor Lautners character Jacob sort of fall in love or do they? And shes devastated and shes doing all of this risky stuff and its really a heartbreaking movie. »
