It's a bright day for sci-fi fans. Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie's Dark Matter TV show has been renewed for a third season on Syfy. Syfy Renews Dark Matter and Killjoys!

Syfy has finally found a winning combination for Friday nights.

Today the network announced it will be renewing both Dark Matter and Killjoys for an additional season.

This news come just as the programs are ending the runs of their current seasons.

The Killjoys Season 2 finale will air tomorrow night, and in the words of our reviewer, Hank Otero, "Mind Blown!!!"

It certainly doesn't sound like you're going to want to miss Killjoys Season 2 Episode 10, "How to Kill Friends and Influence People."

Dark Matter will air a double episode on Friday, September 9, and its finale on Friday, September 16.

Dark Matter follows the story of a crew full of amnesiacs who found themselves on a derelict ship in the middle of nowhere.

Syfy has renewed sophomore space dramas “Killjoys” and “Dark Matter” for Season 3, the network announced Thursday.

Killjoys” will air its Season 2 finale on Friday, September 2 at 9 p.m., while “Dark Matter” will air a double episode Friday, Sept. 9 beginning at 10 p.m., with its Season 2 finale airing Sept. 16 at 10 p.m.

From Temple Street Productions, Universal Cable Productions and creator Michelle Lovretta, “Killjoys” follows a trio of interplanetary bounty hunters sworn to remain impartial as they chase deadly warrants throughout the Quad, a distant system on the brink of a bloody, multiplanetary class war. The series stars Hannah John-Kamen, Aaron Ashmore and Luke Macfarlane. “Killjoys” is produced by Temple Street Productions in association with Space and Syfy. I had the fantastic privilege of spending five days last week at San Diego Comic Con. It was my first time attending the convention, and I had an absolute blast. Dark Matter: Season Two of Syfy Series Casts The Bridge's Franka Potente

Deadline reports Franka Potente has been cast in a recurring role for the second season of the Dark Matter TV show on Syfy. Potente played Eleanor Nacht on The Bridge TV series which was cancelled after two seasons on FX. She also played Eva Heissen, on BBC America's cancelled series, Copper. Dark Matter, season two, premieres on Syfy, Friday, July 1, 2016 at 10:00pm Et/Pt.

According to the report, Potente plays Commander Shaddick, Chief Inspector of the Galactic Authority Serious Crimes Division, She is described as, "...cool, calculated and determined to prove the crew of the Raza were involved in the destruction of Iriden 3." Promos For New Seasons Of Dark Matter And Killjoys Released

Although many of our favorite shows are about to take a few months off, that doesn’t mean your TV will become obsolete during the summertime. SyFy intends to heat things up with the release of two trailers promoting the sophomore seasons of Dark Matter and Killjoys.

I admit that it’s not often I become addicted to a summer series, but I found myself pleasantly surprised when Dark Matter effectively entralled me with its intrigue, space exploration, and great characters that were just as unaware of who they were as the viewer was. With the team having been betrayed from within during the first season’s finale, I expect the new dynamic added to extend the scope of what’s been established.

Actor Shaun Sipos joins the second season cast of the Dark Matter TV show on Syfy. Fans may recognize Sipos as teacher Eric Daniels on Life Unexpected, which was cancelled by The CW after two seasons. Sipos also recurred as Aaron Whitmore, during the fifth season of The Vampire Diaries. The second season of Dark Matter premieres on Syfy, Friday, July 1, 2016 at 10:00pm Et/Pt.
