BAFTA Game Awards – The Results

Journey, the visual and emotive game that evokes in the player a sense of smallness and wonder to forge an emotional connection between themself and the anonymous players they meet on the way, collected the Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Game Design, Online Multiplayer and Original Music Awards at the British Academy Games Awards, hosted by Dara O’ Briain and supported by official partner Game.

Danny Wallace was awarded with his first BAFTA winning the Performer category for his work as the narrator in Thomas was Alone, the indie puzzle game. The Walking Dead, the episodic point-and-click adventure role-playing game, picked up the Mobile and Handheld and Story BAFTAs. The Unfinished Swan, a game which explores the unknown, collected the Awards for Game Innovation and Debut Game.

2013 BAFTA Games Awards Nominations Revealed!

Thn have received details of the nominations for the British Academy Games Awards 2013 and this year a total of 53 games have been recognised across 17 categories, which showcases some of the most popular and groundbreaking games of the last 12 months and highlighting the phenomenal level of creativity from UK and international development teams.

Journey and The Walking Dead are both nominated for Best Game, Game Design, Story and Original Music.  Journey also receives nominations for Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Game Innovation and Online-Multiplayer.  The Walking Dead is also up for Mobile & Handheld as well as two nominations for Performer.  Far Cry 3 and Dear Esther are both up for Artistic Achievement and Audio Achievement.  Far Cry 3 is also nominated for Action, Story, Best Game and Game Design and Dear Esther for British Game, Debut Game and Performer.

Video Game BAFTA Nominees Announced, Journey Leads the Pack

It was only Sunday night that I was out standing in the snow and rain at BAFTAs. Just when I thought I had gotten over the show, the video game BAFTAs have crept up on me and released their nominations on me.

Across 17 catagories, Journey has been nominated for 8. As with all the awards this year, The Walking Dead is right on its heels as it looks like the two games are set to slug it out one last time on March 5th.

In one of the most interesting nominations of the year, Far Cry 3 has been nominated for Best Story. This is going to get some stick from some, but not from me. I have been championing that games story and intent since I completed the game. Clearly a few of us Brits had our thinking caps on as we played through the game.

Awards season isn't quite done with us as the British Academy of Film and Television Arts rounds up their picks for 2012's best and brightest in advance of the awards show in March. The leading competitors: "The Walking Dead" with seven nominations including Best Game and Game Design with "Far Cry 3" picking up six including one for... Story?

The British Academy Game Awards will take place on March 5th with a highlight show streaming on TwitchTV on Monday, March 11.

Latest Playing Dead Video Discusses the Final Episode of The Walking Dead

Telltale Games has released a new episode of Playing Dead, in which the developers discuss behind-the-scene details of the final episode, No Time Left. As an added treat, players also get a bonus episode with Terry McGovern, who plays Larry in The Walking Dead.

In today's final episode, 'It All Ends Here,' host A.J. LoCascio sits down with developers Sean Vanman, Jake Rodkin and Sean Ainsworth to discuss the process behind making the final episode of the game's first season, 'No Time Left.'

In addition to the developers, we also sit down to speak with The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, who shares his thoughts on the series and the choices he made in the final episode. Additionally, we speak with the one and only Dave Fennoy, who details the process of becoming Lee Everett, and also adds his thoughts on the fate of Lee at the end of the season. »

The first season of The Walking Dead video game may be finished, but Telltale is still releasing new installments of Playing Dead. The latest episode features the development team talking about the season finale, with Robert Kirkman and Dave Fennoy reflecting on game’s first season.

All five episodes of The Walking Dead video game are available for the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Mac, and iOS. The episodes are all available individually as digital downloads and a boxed version was recently released as well.
