During World War II Fast worked with the United States Office of War Information, writing for Voice of America. He was also a member of the Communist Party from 1943 to 1956, receiving a three-months prison sentence for contempt of Congress in 1947. While incarcerated, he began writing his most famous novel, "Spartacus". See more »
