When Heath Ledger passed away last year, he was in the middle of shooting director Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. It seemed like the movie would have to remain unfinished, until a plot convention was created that allowed Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell to step in and take turns sharing Ledger's final role. Both Depp and Law have finally opened up about what it was like to fill in for Ledger during an interview with HitFix. Depp praised the production, particularly the performances.
It was an honor to represent Heath. He was the only player out there breathing heavy down the back of every established actor's neck with a thundering and ungovernable talent that came up on you quick, hissing rather mischievously with that cheeky grin, "Hey... get on out of my way boys, I'm coming through..." and does he ever!!! Heath is a marvel, »

While I zero respect for the Hollywood Foreign Press as they always seem to vote for the studio that wined and dined them the best, I always watch the show as it’s loaded with big name presenters and they serve alcohol all night. Even though the show is tame nowadays as everyone watches what they say, in the past you never knew what might happen as half the crowd was drunk and then getting on stage to accept an award. »

Colin Farrell and his girlfriend took a trip to Poland this week (beg28Dec09) to have their baby son baptised.
The Irish star and Polish actress Alicja Bachleda became parents to little Henry in October.

Without being necessarily perfect, the film pretends to offer more than its counterparts who excessively rely on CGIs. This might be slightly true. However, the story is fairly thin and we’re left with a simple and decent blockbuster. Nothing more. Nothing less.
Dr. Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) is 1000 years old. With the help of Valentina (Lily Cole), his fifteen-years-old daughter, along with Percy (Verne Troyer) and Anton (Andrew Garfield), Valentina’s friend, Dr. Parnassus runs a travelling show. In this show, a member of the audience is invited on stage in order to be sent on the other side of a mirror. Afterwards, he/she will be plunged into his/her own imagination.
However, there’s no amusement behind this and the troupe is seriously poor. Many centuries ago, Dr. Parnassus made a deal with the Devil (Tom Waits). In exchange of immortality, Dr. Parnassus must promise he’ll give »

Colin Farrell spent his Christmas holiday bringing toys to sick children in hospital.
The kind-hearted dad-of-two played Santa to the little ones at Our Lady's Children's Hospital in his hometown of Dublin, Ireland, handing out presents and chatting for several hours, according to Ireland's Evening Herald.
A source tells the newspaper Farrell has made several visits to the centre in previous years, adding, "He keeps a low profile when he comes in. He doesn't want photographers or anything.
"He has bought (video game consoles) Nintendo DS and Wiis for them and plays with them for a couple of hours. He's really popular with the staff and really genuine, and the kids really love and appreciate his visit." »
Big-hearted Colin Farrell played secret Santa to some very sick children at a children's hospital in Dublin over Christmas. Farrell arrived at Out Lady's Hospital in Crumlin and stayed for several hours on Christmas Day handing out presents. Apparently he has made many such trips over the past few years, always in secret. "He keeps a low profile when he comes in. He doesn't want photographers or anything," a hospital source told the Evening Herald about the actor's visits. "He comes in every Christmas Day and spends a lot of time with the children. "He has bought Nintendo DS and Wiis for them and plays with them for a couple of hours," the source said. "He's really popular with the staff and really genuine, and the kids really love and appreciate his visit." THe Christmas pilgrimage came ahead of another child-centered event - this time in Poland where Farrell and his girlfriend, »
Ahead of the first anniversary of Heath Ledger's death, a fellow actor recalled his compassion. Verne Troyer, who starred with Ledger in The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus, which was finished with the help of Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law, said: 'I just think of having dinner with him and being able to talk to him and being surprised that he was really open and down to earth. He was a kind, giving person, even on set. And he had huge enthusiasm, which was sort of contagious.' Of finishing the movie after Ledger's death, he said:'i think we all came together as a group, as a family, you know, to finish it for Heath. Johnny Depp just »

Terry Gilliam has always had a star-crossed career. His magnum opus, "Brazil," was sliced-and-diced and essentially neutered when it hit American shores. The problems he ran into shooting "Man of La Mancha," a film he never finished, have been widely documented. "Tideland," his last film and his most personal movie to date, was (rightly) savaged by critics and ignored by most audiences. And during his latest film, "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus," leading man Heath Ledger died during shooting. Of course, that means "Imaginarium" has to be considered with that in mind, doesn't it? Because Gilliam's solution, having Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell to step into Ledger's shoes for various sequences, wasn't a choice borne out of anything but necessity. Essentially, it's a conceit that you have to decide if you're able to forgive as an audience member, but since you know the history behind the film and Ledger's death, »
