Charles Farrell (I) (1900–1990)

Popular Hollywood leading man of late silents and early talkies. He is best remembered for his teaming with Janet Gaynor in 12 screen romances between 1927 and 1934. He retired from films in the early 1940's, but TV audiences of the 1950's would see him as Gale Storm's widower dad in the popular television series My Little Margie (1952). See full bio »

Basil Dean was the director.

An explosion on the set of the film that made him a star, Old Ironsides (1926), left a technician dead, several bystanders injured and blew out Farrell's eardrums, leaving him partially deaf for the rest of his life, something he was fairly careful not to let on. See more »
