[2012 Horror Movie Preview] Summit Entertainment

28 December 2011 8:36 AM, PST | bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news »

Summit Entertainment is pushing hard to get their fingers into the horror genre. The effort is noted, even though they really don't have much of a track record yet. This past year they started off strong taking a big chance on Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer's Drive Angry 3D, a super fun movie that nobody saw (what's wrong with you!). Other than that they continually pushed The Darkest Hour to the brink of death and saw yet another Twilight film in theaters. Next year's lineup isn't all that impressive either, although who doesn't want to see more of Amanda Seyfried in a genre pic? I'm also quite curious to see what All the Boys Love Mandy Lane director Jonathan Levine can pull off with zombies. »

Cenobite Cross-Dressing Sees Our First Female Pinhead In Hellraiser Comic Series

1 December 2011 | Horror Asylum | See recent Horror Asylum news »

Boom! Studios' 'Hellraiser' comic book series is changing things up a bit for it's new issue number 8 release. The series, co-penned by 'Hellraiser' creator Clive Barker, has turned the female lead from the original movie Kirsty Cotton into a new Pinhead with breasts for it's latest edition. Miss Pinhead features on cover B of the new Hellraiser #8 edition which has been revealed by Bleeding Cool and which you can check out below. As for the franchises on-screen presence a potential Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer's 'Hellraiser' remake doesn't appear to be going ahead and of course Barker himself was very vocal with his opinions on the terrible direct to DVD sequel 'Hellraiser: Revelations' which arrived last month. »

Halloween 3D Status Update

27 September 2011 8:52 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

It seems like every week a new Halloween 3D rumor spreads online and we’ve had a number of readers submitting tips or asking for a status update. We have confirmation on the “found footage” rumor being false, along with an update from Todd Farmer.

The big rumor floating around was that the next Halloween sequel would be going the PG-13 route with a “found footage” film. In a recent interview, producer Malek Akkad confirmed that the next Halloween film would not be a “found footage” movie. The rumor appears to have started due to a “found footage” pitch for a new Friday the 13th film.

There have been other rumors of directors being officially attached to a sequel, but that is not the case. The only official development-related news comes from a recent Twitter update from Todd Farmer:

“2 years ago today, Lussier and I handed in our first »

Hellraiser Concept Art for the Failed Reboot

17 September 2011 3:14 PM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

If you are a head of a studio and you want to remake a horror movie you call upon writer, Todd Farmer (Drive Angry 3D, My Bloody Valentine & Jason X) and his partner, Patrick Lussier (director of My Bloody Valentine & Drive Angry) Not exactly a glowing resume, but executive at studios seem to be pleased with their work. Well, both were given the task of trying to reboot Clive Barker's classic horror franchise Hellraiser. The task appears to have been to daunting and the pitch and concept art that went with it didn't get them the gig. By the way anyone not familiar with the term Cenobite, read below. The Cenobites are extradimensional beings who appear in the works of Clive Barker. Hellraiser remake faces more delays

13 September 2011 5:13 AM, PDT | TotalFilm | See recent TotalFilm news »

It looks like Hellraiser is headed for the seventh circle of development hell.  The project has already been through more directors than Pinhead’s got through souls, and now the latest additions – Drive Angry duo Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier – have dropped out. We’re not sure why they left, but it might have something to do with the fact the production company behind the remake – those lovely Weinsteins – want it to be a PG-13. Which probably means slightly less skin-flaying than...

Hellraiser remake stalls as director and writer exit project

12 September 2011 4:10 PM, PDT | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Plans for a new Hellraiser movie have hit a setback with the exit of director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer.

The duo - who previously collaborated on Drive Angry and My Bloody Valentine - came up with three different story concepts but were unable to reach agreement with Dimension studio chiefs.

Asked if they were still involved, Farmer told Bloody Disgusting: "I don't think so. We developed several versions for Dimension, but in the end we never saw eye to eye creatively.

"We wish them the best and look forward to seeing what they come up with.

"Originally what they wanted was epic and dark, rated R. It was in our contract. So... if We do Hellraiser, it's rated R; if they want to do PG-13 then they have to get rid of us."

Explaining what he and Lussier had been planning, he added: "It's not a sequel, Clive's already told his story. »

Hellraiser Remake Back-Burnered Again

12 September 2011 12:36 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

The long-gestating remake of Clive Barker's demonic Hellraiser continues to suffer at the hands of the Dimension cenobites. Seemingly full steam ahead with creative team Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer at the helm (Drive Angry, My Bloody Valentine), the pair have just revealed that their Hellraiser vision is now unlikely to see the light of day after all.The tortured project dates back to at least 2007, when Inside directors Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury were attached to direct a screenplay by Saw sequel writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Then Bustillo and Maury were out, and Martyrs mentalist Pascal Laugier was in. And when Laugier too left through the revolving door, there was a brief dalliance with The Roommate's Christian E Christiansen. The film seemed to gain some traction with the arrival of Lussier and Farmer, who brought their own script and some firm assurances that rumours of teen-friendly PG-13ness were unfounded. »

New Cenobite Artwork From Anticipated Hellraiser Remake

10 September 2011 3:34 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Despite looking increasingly less likely that the remake of the original Clive Barker hit Hellraiser will ever actually happen, following the recent admissions by film makers Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine 3D, Drive Angry 3D) that the movie is unlikely to happen with them at the helm, we  here at Thn have discovered  some cool conceptual art has been created for the duo by  FX vet Gary J. Tunnicliffe  (Two Hours in The Dark Inc) and was first seen over at shocktillyoudrop. The Pinhead artwork bears  a close  similarity to the  original,  whilst the other Cenobites seem to yield a Geigeresque design that will be familiar to fans of the Alien series.

Fans of the original movie will no doubt appreciate the effort and workmanship in the artwork and hope that the movie will finally get off the ground. Perhaps this could be a possibility after the »

The Hellraiser that never was?

Shock Till You Drop has just posted some rather interesting illustrations created as concept art by Gary J. Tunnicliffe for the team of Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer. From the sound of it, the Hellraiser franchise is suffering a bit which in this case they concepts may never see the light. But still cool to see what others are planning.

'Hellraiser' Remake Concept Art Reveals What Could Have Been

9 September 2011 2:00 PM, PDT | Movies.com | See recent Movies.com news »

In yesterday's Last Horror Blog I lamented the news that Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer were no longer the ones working on a remake of Hellraiser.  Oddly enough my sadness comes not because I think Lussier and Farmer were the only two people on the planet who could usher in a new return to glory for Clive Barker's most influential contribution to cinema, but because I would much rather see two stalwart champions of R-rated horror moves be Pinhead's ward than, well, anyone who is going to deliver exactly what Dimension wants: a PG-13-rated Hellraiser.*   Anyways, unless Bob Weinstein has a change of heart, we'll never see what Lussier and Farmer had planned for the franchise.  However, we can get a small, conceptual glimpse into the direction they...

Cool Conceprt Art from the 'Hellraiser' Remake That May Not Happen

9 September 2011 1:41 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

We've seen a terrible trailer for the awful-looking sequel Hellraiser: Revelations, but a remake of the original Hellraiser film from Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier (of My Bloody Valentine 3D and Drive Angry 3D) was supposedly still on the way. Well, Shock Til You Drop has recently learned from attendees of the Still Screaming event in La that both the filmmakers were telling inquiring minds that it was unlikely that the remake was going to happen with the duo involved. However, the same online horror gurus have rounded up some concept art for Farmer and Lusser's new take on Pinhead, and it's pretty twisted stuff. Here's the concept art from the remake of Hellraiser via Shock Til You Drop: With this kind of concept art, it's hard to see why the project isn't moving forward, unless it's just not what Dimenson Films is looking for in a franchise reboot. Abandoned Hellraiser Remake Cenobite Concepts

9 September 2011 12:20 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

A few concept art photos have surfaced from what would have been director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer's remake of Hellraiser, which seems to be dead. Take a look at the concept art photos below, and read on for more information on the killed project.

We haven't heard much on this Hellraiser remake for quite some time, and it turns out there is a good reason for that. Screenwriter Todd Farmer revealed that he and director Patrick Lussier couldn't see eye to eye with the studio on this project. Here's what Todd Farmer had to say below, when asked if he's still involved with the remake.

"I don't think so. We developed several versions for Dimension, but in the end we never saw eye to eye creatively. We wish them the best and look forward to seeing what they come up with."

Concept Art Of Pinhead And Clan From Defunct 'Hellraiser' Remake

9 September 2011 12:20 PM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

After one too many sequels, the 'Hellraiser' horror series has been due for a reboot. The duo behind 'My Bloody Valentine' and 'Drive Angry,' Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier were attached to bring the series to a new generation, but plans have fallen through. When they spoke with Shock Till You Drop earlier in the week, they said that after drafting many scripts, the reboot is likely to move on without them.Since the news, Shock Till You Drop has managed to dig up some concept art that was drafted up for the now defunct film. It was done by Gary J. Tunnicliffe. They show a redesigned Pinhead who's name was literally taken in another direction, a new female Cenobite, and another male called "Skinner." Just a hunch, but it might be those blades-for-hands that landed him the name. Check out all of the artwork below. What did »

Pinhead Concept Art from Hellraiser Reboot

9 September 2011 9:59 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer had been working on big budget theatrical reboot of Hellraiser, but it was recently revealed that they are no longer on the project. It doesn’t look like their vision of Hellraiser will be seeing the light of day, but if you’d like to get a look at their new designs for Pinhead and other Cenobites, concept art has been released.

During a recent interview, Todd Farmer had the following to say about their work on Hellraiser:

“…We developed several versions for Dimension, but in the end we never saw eye to eye creatively… We did our draft of ‘Halloween’ right before we went off to do ‘Drive Angry’, then, right After ‘Drive Angry’ they asked us to do ‘Hellraiser’. Originally what they wanted was epic and dark, rated R. It was in our contract. So… if We do ‘Hellraiser’, it’s rated »

Hey, Wanna See What the Cenobites Will Look Like in the Hellraiser Remake?

9 September 2011 8:24 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

I’m talking about the remake here, not that unGodly Godawful looking “Hellraiser: Revelations” mess that the studio made on a quick weekend just to hold onto the rights to the franchise. This is the big-budget studio remake from director Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer, the boys behind “Drive Angry 3D”. (Okay, so maybe mentioning “Drive Angry 3D” probably isn’t the best way to go…) Regardless, here are your first looks at what the Cenobites, the villains of the “Hellraiser”-verse, will look like in the upcoming remake. As you may or may not have figured it out by now, these concept artwork are courtesy of Styd, and were whipped up by one Gary J. Tunnicliffe of Two Hours in the Dark. Of course, just because this is what Pinhead and his Cenobite buddies are supposed to look like, doesn’t mean they will end up looking like this, »

So, Pinhead Was Going to Look Like This in the Hellraiser Remake

9 September 2011 8:04 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

While I remain convinced that the now defunct Hellraiser remake with director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer would've been a good thing for the series (those guys are always attempting to tackle a remake differently, rather than retread familiar territory), I'm not so sure I can say the same for these Cenobite designs.

Shock Till You Drop got an exclusive look at some of the most interesting content to hit the web this week for horror fans. In it we see what make-up man Gary Tunnicliffe had come up with for the Hellraiser remake. You can check out remake Pinhead below:

Any filmmaker doing a remake obviously feels the urge to put their own stamp on the material, but the useless conic addition to Pinhead is more than a little jarring. Maybe I would've felt differently after seeing it in action, but there just doesn't seem to be any »

"Hellraiser" Stalls & New Cenobite Designs

9 September 2011 7:16 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Earlier this week came word that the planned reboot of the "Hellraiser" franchise at Dimension Films looks to have died on the vine.

"Drive Angry" duo Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier were attached to the remake but they told Bloody Disgusting that while they presented numerous different takes on the property to the studio, they "never saw eye to eye creatively" and so they're no longer involved.

When they signed on the studio wanted an "epic and dark rated R" feature but now it looks like the studio was pushing for more of a PG-13 which seems near impossible for such a property.

Meanwhile today, Styd has posted some now likely discarded Cenobite conceptual designs from the project including a new and much more Hr Giger-style take on Pinhead.

In the meantime the direct-to-dvd sequel "Hellraiser: Revelations", an ultra low budget effort produced just so the studio could hold on to the rights, »

A Neat Collection Of Cenobite Concept Art Proposed For Hellraiser Remake

9 September 2011 | Horror Asylum | See recent Horror Asylum news »

Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer's 'Hellraiser' remake looked like it may have had some potential. At least from what has emerged on a collection of Cenobite concept art pics from FX man Gary J, Tunnicliffe. Sadly though it has been reported that the duo's remake will never likely happen after they told fans at an event in La earlier this week that it was 'unlikely to happen with them involved'. They had reportedly provided Dimension with various script options but nothing seemed to have grabbed the studio's attention. Which is all the more frustrating especially as the pretty terrible sequel 'Hellraiser: Revelations', which went straight to DVD, managed to hit production. But anyway, you can check out the cool concept art below which includes a shot at possibly the sexiest Cenobite yet!? »
