As The Dictator heads into its second weekend of release, we caught up with one of our favorite actors, Jason Mantzoukas, who plays Nadal, second-in-command to the disgraced General Aladeen, in this hilarious new comedy. He nearly steals the show out from underneath star Sacha Baron Cohen, something he's also been doing on HBO's Enlightened opposite Laura Dern and FX's The League, which has one of the most solid comedic line-ups on TV at the moment. We think he's one of the funniest guys out there right now, so if you haven't seen any of the above mentioned projects, please allow us to introduce to you Brolo El Cunado, along with a red band clip from his film The Dictator!

"The Avengers" has torpedoed "Battleship" into the "John Carter" territory.
Marvel's "The Avengers," distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, continued to dominate the box-office claiming the No. 1 spot for its third-straight weekend. The superhero team, assembled by writer/director Joss Whedon, earned $55.1 million in the U.S. and $56 million overseas for a grand total of almost $1.2 billion.
Universal's "Battleship" starring Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch, and Rihanna debuted in the U.S. at No. 2 with $25.4 million, well below everyone's expectations. The action adventure, released in April overseas, has a cumulative total of $252.1 million. Budgeted at over $200 million, "Battleship" may soon join "John Carter" as one of the costliest films in recent history. ("Battleship" and "The Dictator" movie review right here)
Meanwhile, Sacha Baron Cohen's irreverent comedy, "The Dictator," premiered at No. 3 with $17.4 million. Since its release last Wednesday, the Paramount laugh-a-minute has sold $24.5 million worth of box-office tickets.

Earth's mightiest heroes have fallen at the hands of Admiral General Aladeen.
Sacha Baron Cohen's new movie The Dictator - in which his latest comedy creation Aladeen fights against democracy after being summoned to the United Nations - has been announced as the new No1 at the UK box office.
The film took £5million on its debut this past weekend.
Paramount Pictures announced that The Dictator had overthrown the likes of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Hulk in Marvel's Avengers Assemble and seized the top spot in the UK and Ireland on its opening weekend.
It's the second biggest launch for a comedy in 2012 and overtakes the openings of other comedies including Bridesmaids and The Hangover, while matching that of Baron Cohen's previous hit Bruno, which released in 2009.
Starring alongside Baron Cohen (Aladeen) are Anna Faris (Zoey), Jason Mantzoukas (Nuclear Nadal) and Sir Ben Kingsley (Uncle Tamir). The Dictator »

Battleship, The Dictator and What to Expect When You're Expecting faced Nick Fury and Marvel's The Avengers at the box office this weekend and ran into a charged up Hulk. The superhero ensemble phenomenon easily held its top spot while rewriting the record books again.
Despite the continuing good fortune for The Avengers over the past few weeks, the box office slowed its roll a bit as the top ten earned 12% less than it did a year ago.
The Avengers lost only 47% of its gargantuan business from last weekend as it earned an estimated $55.1 million from 4,349 theaters, bringing its 17-day total to the $457 million mark. The Joss Whedon film now sits at number six on the all-time highest grossing domestic films of all time (pre-inflation) behind the original Star Wars.
Hulk and friends also set a pair of records over the past week, hitting both the $400 and $450 million in record time. »

Three new films, Universal's summer tentpole Battleship, Paramount's The Dictator and Lionsgate's What to Expect When You're Expecting, ran into a brick wall that is Marvel's The Avengers. There was no doubt about it: This was Kristen Wiig's night. Of the three cast members rumored to be leaving "Saturday Night Live," I think we can go ahead and remove the word "rumored" off of Wiig and Samberg, who said his goodbye with "Lazy Sunday 2." Jason Sudeikis, on the other hand ... well, he introduced the Foo Fighters? In other words: There were really no hints throughout a show that he had very little to do with concerning his future (unless you want to read into Jagger mentioning that "many of you are moving on" in the final sketch). So if it was his last show, that's a shame. On to what turned out to be a quite emotional final Scorecard of the season...
Sketch of the Night
"She's a Rainbow" (Mick Jagger, Kristen Wiig, Ensemble) A perfect ten. Honestly, that was the most touching, emotional sendoff that I've ever seen "SNL" pull off. »

Battleship: Brooklyn Decker, Taylor Kitsch Brooklyn Decker has two box-office disappointments opening on the same weekend: Decker is featured in Battleship and What to Expect When You’re Expecting. Both movies opened way below expectations on Friday; in fact, official studio estimates released Saturday morning have them faring even worse than Friday night estimates indicated. Starring Taylor Kitsch, Peter Berg’s Battleship raked in $9m at 3,650 locations on Friday in the Us/Canada according to Box Office Mojo. That’s about $500k less than early estimates. For comparison’s sake: Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, at the start of its third weekend out, took in an estimated $15.3m. Box-office prognosticators were expecting Battleship to gross $40m on its first weekend out in North America. It turns out the alien invasion actioner / sci-fier will be lucky if it earns much more than $25m. A Universal release, Battleship cost a reported $209m. »

New 'The Dictator' movie delivered crazy laughs and a pretty good storyline. Paramount Pictures released their new Sasha Baron Cohen, comedy flick "The Dictator" in theaters this past Wednesday. I just checked it out today, and I thought it was pretty damn funny. Some of the jokes hit on corny status, but for the most part,it was funny. They brought in that funny Anna Faris chick, which was a pretty good choice for this. The movie stars: Sacha Baron Cohen, Anna Faris, Ben Kingsley, Megan Fox, John C. Reilly, and J.B. Smoove. In the new flick, character Admiral General Hafez Aladeen (Sacha Baron Cohen) is the dictator ruler of the North African Republic of Wadiya, and uses many body doubles in case someone tries to kill him. However,on his trip to America, his body doubles trick gets turned on him when one of his own men named Tamir, »

The jokes come thick and fast and occasionally hit home as Sacha Baron Cohen unveils his latest grotesque creation
Most comedians create a screen persona that lasts a lifetime or they use a version of themselves. A few steadily assemble a formidable gallery of notable figures while retaining a personal identity known only to a circle of friends. The two most notable actors in the second category are Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers, and it is in their company that Sacha Baron Cohen belongs, though he has yet to make his Kind Hearts and Coronets or Dr Strangelove. Cohen has turned in some creditable performances, each sporting an outrageous foreign accent, in what are essentially other people's films: the Italian pedlar of phoney elixirs in Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd; the gay French grand prix driver in the Will Ferrell vehicle Talladega Nights; and the Parisian cop reminiscent of Sellers in Scorsese's Hugo. »

Jennifer Lopez, What to Expect When You’re Expecting Still going strong, The Avengers is on its third weekend out. Yet, the domestic box office is expected to be down 18% compared to last year because of three weak new entries: Peter Berg / Taylor Kitsch’s megabudgeted Battleship barely managed to stay afloat on Friday, while Sacha Baron Cohen‘s The Dictator (which opened on Wed.) and Kirk Jones’ all-star ensemble (Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Chace Crawford, etc.) What to Expect When You’re Expecting performed below expectations. [See Box Office: Battleship bombs.] The Dictator grossed an estimated $5.5m at 3,008 theaters on Friday, for an expected weekend total of $16m, as per Deadline.com. Sacha Baron Cohen’s R-rated comedy will thus reach a cume of $23m after five days. For comparison’s sake, Bruno — which was considered a major box-office disappointment following Borat — opened with $30.61m on its first weekend out in July 2009. Supporting Baron »

It is now clear that fearless English comedian Sacha Baron Cohen will go to any extreme to get a laugh…and it usually works. His new film The Dictator is described as "the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed." Cohen has already been spotted in character as Admiral General Aladeen partying with models on a yacht off the coast of Cannes, France now that the film has opened in theaters. The Dictator also co-stars go-to funny people like Anna Faris, Ben Kingsley and John C. Reilly. The origins of many of Cohen's characters can be found on Da Ali G Show and its four-disc Da Compleet Seereez. Ali G is a clueless British African-Caribbean hip-hopper who somehow cons politicians...

The Dictator (15)
(Larry Charles, 2012, Us) Sacha Baron Cohen, Anna Faris, Jason Mantzoukas, Ben Kingsley, John C Reilly. 83 mins
Having run out of unsuspecting Americans to prank, Sacha Baron Cohen takes the conventional fish-out-of-water route this time, as his Arab tyrant comes to terms with western democracy. But if the story plays it safe, the comedy treads a risky line between lampooning Islamophobia and fuelling it. The high gag rate, animated performance and general broad-spectrum offensiveness help him get away with murder, and worse.
The Raid (18)
(Gareth Evans, 2011, Indon/Us) Iko Uwais, Joe Taslim, Yayan Ruhian. 101 mins
Throwing more punches than every other movie this year combined, this single-minded Indonesian martial arts epic doesn't let up until everyone in its baddy-infested apartment block, and the auditorium, is pummelled into submission. Pacifists, look away now.
2 Days In New York (15)
(Julie Delpy, 2011, Ger/Fra/Bel) Julie Delpy, Chris Rock, Albert Delpy. 96 mins
Welcome return for Delpy's chaotic, »

Dictators, hitmen, and navy officers – oh my! It’s a big weekend for the dudes, the professional advantages mentioned above notwithstanding, and we can expect screens clogged with manly men doing male things. Even the invention of a sex toy (by a man, duh) and male grooming get sweet turns in the theaters. If only the powerful sight of pregnant women was enough to combat the male-dominated market. Ah well, perhaps another weekend. Let’s jump into the testosterone-fueled fray, shall we?
Political satire, social comedy, and gross-out humor each take their turn in the Larry Charles-directed “The Dictator,” which opened Wednesday. Sacha Baron Cohen is Admiral General Aladeen, the universal and undisputed leader of the fictional North African nation of Wadiya. Running (or perhaps “scaring” is a better word choice here) a nation with a sexist, racist, iron fist, threatening nuclear warfare while hoarding oil reserves, Aladeen is »
