Weinstein Lines Up Oscar Slate, First Reactions to 'August: Osage County,' Starring Streep
First reactions are coming in for the Weinsteins' "August: Osage County," an adaptation of Tracy Letts' Pulitzer Prize-winning play with director John Wells at the helm. TWC production exec Ben Famiglietti told Harvey Weinstein that the 190-page play was "the best writing ever out of Chicago," Weinstein recalled at a Sundance panel. "It was amazing, we invested in the play, which means getting movie rights. It stars Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, is produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov." Given the cast and distributor, many Tweeters are already predicting Oscar chances. Anne Hathaway to star as Judy Garland in "Get Happy"

Sources report that Anne Hathaway will play Judy Garland in the Weinstein Co.'s legit and film adaptations of the Gerald Clarke-penned biography "Get Happy."   VP of production and development Ben Famiglietti, said that it yes as yet unclear which version would come before the other. The stage version would be cheaper and quicker to make, but some filmmakers could even guide both, beginning with the film.   Weinstein noted Clarke's take "is particularly outstanding because of its exclusive details from her own writings."   This marks the second legit project for Tyler that was announced this spring. She'll be starring in the Shakespeare in the Park production of "Twelfth Night" as well.
