Tennessee: Klaus (Joseph Morgan) under the pretext of his car breaking down asks a girl if he can use her phone, so she can invite him in. She says she'll get the phone but he compels her. He's looking for Ray (David Gallagher). Stefan (Paul Wesley) waits outside and he's invited in too, so he can play lackey to Klaus once again as he lets rips into them. Caroline (Candice Accola) is planning a party for Elena's (Nina Dobrev) 18th. There's been a third animal attack in Memphis, more of Klaus's Vics. Alaric (Matt Davis) sleeps on the couch since he doesn't want to sleep in Jenna's room. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) in the bathtub asks Andie (Dawn Olivieri) for more champagne and has to get it himself. So he leaves the tub naked and who should walk in, Elena of course. So after getting a good eyeful of him, she throws him a towel, »

Elena (Nina Dobrev) examines the marks on her neck. Alaric (Matt Davis) teaches her how to fight: vampires stake vampires. She's not strong enough yet, yeah, she's no Buffy. He throws a vervain grenade as it's the only element of surprise as far as a vampire is concerned. Elena tells Alaric he can call Stefan (Paul Wesley) by name. He hurt her so she can do anything, even be with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) which is what I added for emphasis. It's senior year at school and all Elena can do is wallow in the fact it's their anniversary. She and Stefan met here on the first day of school last year, but she needs to put it behind her. Speaking of, Stefan is having a veritable vampire orgy at the house. Damon sarcastically asks if that's what Klaus had in mind when he compelled him to protect Elena and he asks who that is. »

Noises come from the empty school. Matt (Zach Roerig) exercises and a shadow is seen behind him. He enters the classroom and steps on the mousetrap, forgetting about Senior Prank night. Elena (Nina Dobrev) says they're creating memories and walks straight into Klaus (Joseph Morgan) who claims she's meant to be dead. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Katherine drive around getting away from Mystic Falls since she's convinced him she knows of a way to kill Klaus and not "dagger dead, but dead, dead." He kisses her, then throws her back, "Truth is you don't do it for me anymore." No, cos he's into her doppelganger. Rebekah (Claire Holt) finds that's what Stefan's (Paul Wesley) been hiding, that the doppelganger is still alive. Stefan loves Elena and Rebekah is jealous. Klaus is angry that he broke the curse to make more hybrids and he can't do that cos Elena's alive. He »

News reporter speaks of Andie's death, as Elena (Nina Dobrev) comes to visit Damon (Ian somerhalder). Her birthday is mentioned and she tells him Stefan (Paul Wesley) called her, she thinks it was him since he didn't say anything. No, she heard the pangs of heavy breathing instead, ha. He called from Tennessee. Damon tries to convince her, "Stefan's gone...not geographically." Gone in the head, too far gone, the usual explanations that accompany the phrase. Elena then turns to Alaric (Matt Davis) to ask about Tennessee and Stefan. Damon doesn't want to help. Well she's blinkered not seeing why Damon doesn't want to help, not at first anyway. Elena still has the notion Stefan can be saved, is worth saving and Alaric asks why she has to be the one to save him? A bit like all the other vampire shows gone before, not mentioning names, but of course she still loves him, »

It's the first day of senior year on The Vampire Diaries which of course brings danger from many different angles and from many different sources. Who poses the biggest threat? The list is long; the vampire bodyguard without his humanity, the Original vampire left behind by her brother to keep watch, the lonely brother who just wants his sister back, the witch whose boyfriend is having long and meaningful discussions with his ghost ex-girlfriend or the hybrid who is loyal to the big enemy?
Things sure have got complicated since that first day of high school, from the pilot episode long ago and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" acted like a brilliantly 'bizarro world' version of this (and episode 2 of season 1).
Oh what a difference a year makes for Elena (Nina Dobrev) who reminds us and her friends that this first day of school is also the first anniversary of when »

Darn, those 'Vampire Diaries' actors are tough nuts to crack. Not since the days of 'Lost' has a cast been so tight-lipped about upcoming storylines ... we're starting to think that boss man Kevin Williamson threatens his stars with a gruesome on-screen death if they spill something they shouldn't.
We caught up with Steven R. McQueen (who plays Jeremy Gilbert) and, true to form, we discovered more about what he couldn't tell us than what he could.
Still, the few tidbits he did let slip hint at an intriguing few episodes ahead. We touched on Jeremy's relationship with Bonnie (Katerina Graham), his connection to the ghostly apparitions of Anna (Malese Jow) and Vicki (Kayla Ewell) and how his newfound ability links to Matt's (Zach Roerig).
Warning: Spoilers ahead.

Last night's episode of "The Vampire Diaries" was so spectacular, we're still feeling a little overwhelmed today. So, naturally, we decided that we needed a little hair of the dog that bit us. We dug up some video of a certain Mr. Ian Somerhalder from our September set visit.
This week, we saw Ian's first Season 3 scene with Malese Jow, who has returned along with Kayla Ewell after an extended absence. "It's awesome having them back," he says, fondly remembering an early Season 1 episode where Damon and Vicki (Ewell) got drunk and danced around the Salvatore house. "That was such a great episode, dancing around in my underwear with Kayla Ewell. Where did those days go for Damon? The other thing too, about having them back, is the ripple effect on all the other characters and what it means. It's awesome. It's like the little family is back together."

This review could simply read 'that was awesome' but then this would feel more like Twitter and less of an actual review, I need to get my brain focused after all that crazy bananas action to make this more cohesive. Klaus (Joseph Morgan) returning to Mystic Falls and spending the majority of the episode in the nearly deserted school, made this one tense Vampire Diaries that led to some major events that will shape the rest of the season.
It's never a good sign when a character talks about making the following year great, even if that character is Caroline (Candice Accola) who can find the optimism and pep even in her darkest moments. Also have they not been to all the other events and parties where someone inevitably ends up dead or a little beat up? You would think that they would be prepared for such occasions, especially ones that are for 'making memories. »

It's Senior Prank Night on tonight's The Vampire Diaries which means the only drama will involve toilet paper right? That might be the case if a certain Original vampire hadn't just rolled back into town or if any social event in Mystic Falls went by without a supernatural infused hitch. Really these occasions should come with a warning and an insurance policy. Warning light spoilers ahead.
Yep that's right Klaus (Joseph Morgan) has returned to Mystic Falls to find out what it is that Stefan (Paul Wesley) is hiding. That what is actually a who; Klaus believes that Elena (Nina Dobrev) is dead and as Julie Plec reveals in the preview below he is going to be more than furious as a result of Stefan's deception. This fury will not have Klaus simply killing Elena all over again, as we have seen that Klaus has fun with his punishment (some »

Katerina Graham has opened up about the future of Bonnie and Jeremy's relationship on The Vampire Diaries. The actress revealed that Jeremy's (Steven R. McQueen) new ability to see his dead ex-girlfriends Anna (Malese Jow) and Vicki (Kayla Ewell) will cause problems for the happy couple, saying that she does not believe Jeremy got adequate closure in his previous relationships. "I don't know one relationship where you end it and they're alive and you have closure," Graham told Zap2it. "At least I've never felt like I've had complete closure with anyone... so already, how much can you get with a break-up? "But if they never broke up and they just got ripped from you before you had (more) »

The Vampire Diaries is, per usual, turning up the heat this Thursday (The CW, 8/7c), serving up romantic revelations for both Damon/Elena and Tyler/Caroline, afterlife woes for Jeremy, Bonnie and Matt, and the bitter realization that Mystic Falls’ Council may have reached its expiration date.
Here, executive producer Julie Plec details the latest jaw-dropping episode, titled “Disturbing Behavior,” and discloses more Season 3 scoop.

We've spent the last few days singing along to Kat Graham's newest song from her upcoming album (she's offering a free download!), so it's only fitting that tonight, Kat makes her triumphant return to "The Vampire Diaries" after being Mia so far this season. (Yes, we know we saw her briefly in the premiere, but that was product placement, not plot development!) Move over, Chance Harbor witches... our girl is back on Thursday nights.
"Bonnie returns from summer with the normal side of the family," executive producer Julie Plec tells us -- referring, of course, to the side of Bonnie's family that doesn't have a grimoire in every bathroom for some light reading. "Bonnie says 'Boy, summer with the normal side of my family is like watching paint dry,' and Caroline says, 'Well, I'd give a lot for a normal side of my family right now,' having what she's just been through. »

Do you think Bonnie & Jeremy's romance can handle a little ghostly competition? Kat Graham weighs in! Bonnie makes her long-awaited return to Mystic Falls on the Oct. 6 episode of The Vampire Diaries -- and she's got some serious catching up to do. "All Bonnie knows is that Jeremy's acting a little weird," Kat Graham tells HollywoodLife.com. "She doesn't know he's seeing ghosts, and she definitely doesn't know they're his ex-girlfriends who just passed away." And now that Bonnie's back in the fold, Kat says she can't wait for the audience to see how she reacts to Vicki (Kayla Ewell) and Anna (Malese Jow) being a part of Jeremy's (Steven R. McQueen) life again. "That'll be a really cool reveal when it happens," Kat tells us. "And it'll be cool to see how Jeremy reacts to her finding out. Obviously that's going to affect the future of their relationship." Ok, »

"Vampire Diaries" fans! There you are. I'm sorry that this recap is so late; it won't happen again. Or maybe it will. I have no idea.
I'll admit right off the bat -- this wasn't my all-time favorite episode, but thanks to a few awesome moments at the end, and one big twist, I was definitely left satisfied. Cue up those DVRs, if they haven't eaten the episode in the days I've been amiss.
Previously on "The Vampire Diaries": Elijah was here, and things were better. Simon Camden grew a beard. Matt and Jeremy had a bro-off. Caroline and Tyler got naked together. Stefan cried beautiful tears.
8:01 - Nina Dobrev is as good as ever in this episode, but man, is Elena annoying. She still believes in Stefan because she got a creepy mouth-breather phone call? Let's all remember that while we saw Stefan's man-tear covered angstface, she didn't. »

This may only be episode 2 of the new season of The Vampire Diaries but we're off to a quick and gruesome start. In true Vampire Diaries fashion we got right to the heart (pun intended) of the story and the hybrid campaign of the title was dealt with in swift fashion.
Poor Ray Sutton (David Gallagher); as soon as he stepped into that bar last week his writing was on the wall, but who could have predicted a death that was that torturous (I expected some level of pain but that was truly horrifying)? This was an episode that was high on the gore level all in the name of a hybrid army- from bleeding eyes to the standard Salvatore heart rip move. So Klaus' plan to make an army of hybrids failed despite his belief that he completed the sacrifice ritual correctly; Elena's (Nina Dobrev) life really will be »

Is it possible for The Vampire Diaries to feature too much action?
I never thought I'd ask that question, either, but, in many ways, "The Hybrid" left me as confused as Caroline. No, my estranged, creature-hunting, formerly horn-rimmed-glasses-wearing father did not just walk through that door.
But the fast paced, dark developments in the woods have left me scratching my head a bit. I really hope I don't have a werewolf bite...
Okay. So Klaus' grand goal has been to create a hybrid army. That much I follow. And this was the point of his sacrificial ceremony last season, right? But it failed to work here because - as we know, and as Klaus appears to now know - the Doppleganger is Not actually dead... right?
Also: why can hybrids only be made out of werewolves? Those are apparently very difficult to track down, whereas vampires are abundant.

The Vampire Diaries season three: the year of bromances! They'd like to thank Vicki (Kayla Ewell), Matt's dead sister who has been visiting Jer, and weed for making this nomination possible. So what did Steven and Zach have to say about their brewin' bromance? And is there any hope for Matt and Caroline (Candice Accola) after her steamy hookup with Tyler (Michael Trevino) last week?
