- (1977) Made his professional acting debut at age 13 in a revival of the Tennessee Williams' play, "Summer and Smoke", playing Young John at Kent State University's E. Turner Stump Theatre in Kent, Ohio.
- (1978) Appeared in Janet Black's production of Edward Kessell's, "The Golden Mask", at Kent State University's E. Turner Stump Theatre in Kent, Ohio.
- (1979) Appeared in Jim Bob Stephenson's production of John McMahon's, "The Not So Vacant Lot" at Kent State University's E. Turner Stump Theatre in Kent, Ohio.
- (1983) Made his New York Stage Debut Off-Off Broadway in Zu Stears' production of Robert Perring's , "Trade" at the 18th Street Playhouse.
- (1984) Shot the role of Jerome in Ralph Hemecker's unaired TVM for HBO, "Out of the Blue". Also in the cast was Donna Donovan, The Angel in the hit video, "Angel in a Centerfold".
- (1984) Cast by Mary Colquhoun (CD) and Oliver Stone in an undisclosed role in Mr. Stone's War Epic, "Platoon". Right before Gary and other cast members (including his friend, the now deceased John Spencer) were set to fly out for Basic Training, the producer, Dino DeLaurentis, pulled the plug, and cancelled the film. It was sub sequentially made two years later, without Gary, John, and Mary. It ended up winning the Oscar for Best Picture of 1986.
- (1985) Appeared Off-Off Broadway with Peter Gailey and Park Overall in the Rendezvous Theater Company's production of Robert Perring's presentation of his own play, "Skin", at the 18th Street Playhouse.
- (1985) Founded Sweatshirt Stage in 1985 with Peter Gailey and Christopher Pecaro. Served with Gailey as Co-Artistic Director from 1985-1990.
- (1986) Made his Off- Broadway Acting AND Directing debut in The Eastside Production Company's production of Michael Elledge & Michael Sonino's play, "Father Complex" at The Westside Arts Theatre. Also in the cast were Theresa Marlowe and Christopher Pecaro.
- (1986) After three years + summers of studying with Herbert Berghof at HB Studios in Greenwich Village, Gary auditioned for The Actors Studio, where, of over the 5,000 applicants, he was one of 12 selected as Finalists.
- (1987) Appeared Off-Off Broadway with Jerry Lambert in Renner Davis' production of Peter Gailey's play, "Stone", at The Raft Theatre.
- (1988) Made his Off-Off Broadway directing debut with The Sweatshirt Stage production of Dale Wilson's, "Shallow Comforts" at The ATA- Sargent Theatre.
- (1988) Of the 12+ Finalists, Gary joined Peter Onorati and Melora Walters as being selected as Lifetime Members of The Actors Studio by Artistic Director Ellen Burstyn and Incoming Artistic Director, Frank Corsaro. At age 23, Gary was the 2nd youngest lifetime member in the history of The Actors Studio. The youngest was James Dean.
- (1988) Was cast as Dylan next to Julia McNeal in Nick Gomez' feature film debut, "Savage Highway". Sadly, the top investor pulled the plug after one rehearsal at Julia's loft in Tribeca.... because he decided to put his money into Hal Hartley's next feature. He took Nick with him, and sent Julia and Gary on their way back home.
- (1988) The play he directed Off-Off Broadway, "Shallow Comforts" was picked up by Producer Mark Levine and co - produced with Sweatshirt Stage and moved Off-Broadway to Cafe 73, for an extended run. The play was written by Dale Wilson, directed by Gary Evans and included the following cast: Linda Catoe, Christopher Pecaro and Megan Stone.
- (1988) Appeared Off- Broadway with Ellen McQueeney, Chuck Pooler & Kelly Kimball in Michael Hillyer's production of Peter Gailey's "Spacebitch" at The Irish Arts Center.
- (1990) Appeared Off-Broadway with Mark Ethan in Renner Davis' production of Peter Gailey's, "E Train to Hell" at The ATA- Chernuchin Theatre.
- (1990) Appeared Off-Broadway in "The Grand Guignol" at Playhouse 91.
- (1990) Made his Short Film debut in Glenn Ficarra's Pratt Thesis Film, "Minimum Wage". John Requa was the DP. Glenn and John have gone on to direct movies in Hollywood, and both are the creators of the hit tv show, "This Is Us".
- (1993) Appeared in Anne Checler's SVA's Thesis film, "Alone With Julian". It premiered at the Cineplex Odeon Theatre at 49th Street and 8th Avenue.
- (1994) Appeared in Steve Tolle's NYU Thesis film, "The Signalman".
- (2004) Appeared Off-Broadway in the Voiceactors Orchestra Production of The Rankin/Bass Classics, "The Year Without a Santa Clause" and "Rudolph the Red- Nosed Reindeer" at The McGinn/Cazale Theatre. The stellar cast included Matthew Arkin, Dave Bachman, Paul Christie, Ron McClary, Jim Conroy, Brian Scott McFadden (whose father was in the original tv production), Joe Narciso, and Mike Shapiro.
- (2011) His screenplay "West of Greenwich" (now titled, "Moral Decadence") was optioned by Angelica Page. It was to star Ms. Page and Melissa Leo. It was to be produced by Angelica's Production Company, Torn Page Productions, in association with Mr. Evans' and Mr. Lax's newly founded company, 18 Miles West Productions (now solo from Mr' Evans', Gemini Sunz Productions). A reading was held at The Actors Studio with the help and generous support of managing Director, Deborah Dixon. The large cast included Matt Servitto, Gabe Fazio, the late great Bob Kalaban, Ms. Page, and Denise Lute - who filled in for Melissa Leo, who was out of town.
- (2014) His screenplay "Edge of a Knife" was optioned by Anthony Thomas Productions. It was to be co Produced by Anthony Thomas and Gary's new Production Company, Gemini Sunz Productions and directed by Nimi Hendrix. It was to star Mr. Evans, Mr. Thomas, and Daniel O'Shea. Two interviews of The Sissy Gamache Show were taped and aired: One with Gary and Mr. Hendrix , and the other with Gary and Mr. O'Shea.
- (2016) His screenplay with Robert Lax , "The Evil Within" was optioned by United Foreign Media, based out of South Carolina.
- (2017) His short film screenplay, "Super", drawn from the pages of his feature length "Gallows Hill Gardens" went into production on June 23, 2017. Gary decided to pull the plug, thinking it's going to be much better, if we do it another time. His focus as a writer turned to two other screenplays as a solo writer... first up: "Black Caesar.", followed by: "Blue Plate Special".
