You may remember Evans’ interview with Esquire from last week, in which the Captain America star hinted that his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was drawing to a close. Indeed, the actor’s hesitancy sparked rumors that the Powers That Be were ready to pass over the iconic shield to Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), much like the same transition seen in Marvel’s original line of comics. And though Chris Evans will have fulfilled his contract by the time Avengers 4 crashes into theaters in May of 2019, the actor-cum-director is keeping an open mind when it comes to his potential future in the McU.
When asked if he’s set to hang up the shield following Infinity War and its untitled sequel, Evans told Collider that:

Avengers: Infinity War is still more than a year away and already, its casting docket is the stuff of legend. Bringing together Earth’s Mightiest Heroes for the third ensemble movie – both Thor and Hulk were conveniently Awol during Captain America: Civil War, remember – we know from previous reports that the Guardians of the Galaxy will hold a small, but “integral” role in Joe and Anthony Russo’s titanic blockbuster, which surely involves the Infinity Stones and/or the impending battle with Thanos.
But Josh Brolin’s glowering Mad Titan isn’t the only thing the Avengers will have to contend with; according to co-director Joe Russo, Infinity War will find our heroes “at their lowest, at their worst” following the fallout from Civil War, so it’ll be interesting to see how those costumed crusaders make amends before Thanos descends onto Earth baying for blood. Here at Lrm we're kind of into Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds' sarcastic Merc with a Mouth jolted new life into the flagging superhero genre last year and anticipation for the sequel has grown exponentially over the last several months. The internet has been buzzing over the recent announcement of actress Zazie Beetz securing the role of mutant marksman Domino, but there's been far greater debate (and some crazy speculation) over who should portray the time-travelling super-soldier, Cable.
A list of plausible, potential actors has made the rounds, including Stranger Things' fearless sheriff David Harbour and Friday Night Lights alum Kyle Chandler; on the sligtly less-likely side, rumors include Brad Pitt, Dolph Lundgren, Ron Perlman, WWE's Adam Copeland (Edge), and even Charlize Theron; and yet, here's not been a clear frontrunner for the part.
If you're unfamiliar with the character, Cable is the offspring of X-Men's Cyclops/Scott Summers »

It may not have made much of a splash here, but Zhang Yimou‘s The Great Wall has made nearly $330 million worldwide, and now he’s already started shooting his next project. Variety reports the director has begun production on Shadow, a historical epic that takes place in the Three Kingdoms era around mid-200s Ad. Unfortunately, no details are revealed beyond that, but the cast includes Deng Chao, Zheng Kai, Wang Qianyuan, Hu Jun, Guan Xiaotong, Wu Lei and Wang Jingchun. With production underway, hopefully we’ll see it by next year.
In other news, Chris Evans has found the rare non-Captain America role. Deadline reports he’ll be leading Red Sea Diving Resort, a new drama from longtime Homeland writer-producer Gideon Raff. The film will follow Evans’ character, Ari Kidron, and his ragtag team’s involvement in rescuing Jewish people from Ethiopia and transporting them to Israel »

Jenny Slate is mending her broken heart.
The Gifted star split from Chris Evans earlier this year, after less than a year of dating. The two began a romantic relationship in May 2016, and made their red carpet debut just one month later at the New York City premiere of her film, The Secret Life of Pets.
In a new interview with Vulture, Slate candidly talks about her relationship with the Captain America star and reveals what ultimately led to their breakup.
“He’s a lovely person,” she says when asked if she felt comfortable discussing her relationship with Evans. “I don’t know. It feels like such a huge thing. Last year was a giant, big year for my heart. I’ve never, ever thought to keep anything private because that’s not really what I’m like, and now I’m learning those things, and they’re »
Jenny Slate may have kept her relationship with Chris Evans under the radar when they were dating, but after they split in early February, she's become somewhat of an open book. During a recent interview with Vulture, the actress dished on their breakup and how they realized they were just "really, really different" in the end. "To be quite honest, I didn't think I was his type," she said about the "odd match" with the Captain America star. "Eventually, when it was like, 'Oh, you have these feelings for me?,' I was looking around like, 'Is this a prank?' I mean, I understand why I think I'm beautiful, but if you've had a certain lifestyle and I'm a very, very different type of person - I don't want to be an experiment." The two first met during the audition for their upcoming movie, Gifted, and they instantly hit it off. »

Even Jenny Slate admits she and Chris Evans were an odd pairing.
The actress, 35, opened up about her split from the superhero movie star, saying their clear differences eventually led to their breakup.
“Chris is a very, very famous person,” the 35-year-old actress and comedian said in a recent interview with Vulture. “For him to go to a restaurant is totally different than for me to go. I sit in my window and I say ‘Hi’ to people on the street. I have more freedom because I’m not Captain America. I’m mostly a cartoon.”
Slate said the attention eventually became too much. »

One month after their breakup was became public, Jenny Slate opened up in the March 20, 2017 issue of New York magazine about falling for Gifted co-star. The actors first met during a chemistry read for the movie, and they shared an immediate connection. "I remember him saying to me, 'You're going to be one of my closest friends,'" she recalled. "I was just like, 'Man, I f--king hope this isn't a lie, because I'm going to be devastated if this guy isn't my friend.'" When Evans first showed a romantic interest in Slate, the actress—who had recently separated from her husband Dean Fleischer-Camp—was surprised, »
Variety is reporting that Haley Bennett (The Girl on the Train) is in talks to join Chris Evans (Captain America: Civil War) in the cast of Red Sea Diving Resort, which is being written and directed by Gideon Raff (Tyrant).
Based on the 1981 rescue of Ethiopian Jews to Israel, the film “picks up in 1977, when Israel’s Mossad spy agency was given an assignment far different from its usual cloak-and-dagger activities. It was ordered by then-Prime Minister Menachem Begin to rescue thousands of Ethiopian Jews in Sudan and deliver them to the Jewish state. No stranger to action in enemy countries, the agency established a covert forward base in a deserted holiday village in Sudan and deployed a handful of operatives to launch and oversee the exodus to the Promised Land, by sea and by air, in the early 1980s.”
Bennett’s recent roles include The Magnificent Seven and Rules Don’t Apply, »

As speculation continues to swirl regarding his future with that iconic shield – incidentally, his Civil War co-star Robert Downey Jr. just sealed a deal to headline The Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle for Stephen Gaghan – Chris Evans has officially climbed aboard Red Sea Diving Resort.
First reported by Deadline, the Captain America actor has agreed terms to spearhead Gideon Raff’s period pic as Ari Kidron, a “charming Israeli agent who assembles a ragtag team to help with the exodus on the ground.” No further casting details were disclosed, though it’s understood Kidron’s admirable efforts to bring home Ethiopian Jews from Sudan circa 1981 spawned a grueling mission that took place over the course of multiple years. Bron Studios has pledged financial support to Red Sea Diving Resort, with Gideon Raff on board to direct from his own script. Elsewhere, Alexandra Milchan has signed on to produce the period pic. »

So strange it could be true.
This week’s fan theory is ripped from the headlines and hot off the press, so let’s jump into it straightaway, because this time next week it’ll either be proven or passé.
You’ve heard about this movie Life, right? Not the Martin Lawrence/Eddie Murphy prohibition-era prison escape movie (which is awesome), rather the new Alien-esque sci-fi thriller from the writers of Deadpool starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds, and Rebecca Ferguson as part of the crew of an international space station who discovers life on Mars in the form of some goo or something that naturally presents a dire and all-to-real threat to humanity, leaving it to our intrepid crew to find a way to destroy it before it can reach Earth and destroy all of us.
