TV Castings: Courtney Love Joins ‘Empire'; Mena Suvari Set for ‘South of Hell’

Courtney Love has signed on to Fox’s music-biz drama “Empire” as a recurring guest star.

Love will play a rocker who is signed to the record label run by Terrence Howard in the Imagine TV/20th Century Fox TV drama from Lee Daniels and Danny Strong. “Empire” is slated to bow in January.

In other casting news:

Mena Suvari has been tapped to star in We TV’s supernatural drama series “South of Hell,” playing an exorcist who has to expel her own demo. Production is under way in Charleston, S.C. for a 2015 debut. Zachary Booth, Bill Irwin, Drew Moerlein, Lamman Rucker and Paulina Singer co-star. Mary McCormack and Alicia Witt will guest star in the fourth season of Showtime’s “House of Lies,” which bows Jan. 11. »

Ratings: Amazing Race Slows in Friday Debut, CBS Dramas Slip, Utopia Rises

CBS’ The Amazing Race expectedly slowed down in its new Friday time slot, launching Season 25 with 5.5 million total viewers and a 1.1 demo rating — down 36 and 45 percent from its previous, Sunday premiere.

Tar was also down from what Undercover Boss did in the time slot a year ago (8.2 mil/1.6).

CBS’ dramas in turn took a hit. Hawaii Five-0 returned to 8.9 mil/1.3 (down 6 and 19 percent from its previous premiere and barely matching its May finale), while Blue Bloods (10.6 mil/1.2) fell 9 and 29 percent from its year-ago opener and was down from its May finale (11.8 mil/1.4).

New Interstellar and Gotham Posters; First Look at Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in By The Sea

A new poster has been released for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar today, and it features Matthew McConaughey heading into the unknown with the tagline, “The End Of Earth Will Not Be The End Of Us”.

Plot details are obviously being kept under wraps, but the synopsis reads: “Interstellar chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.”

The cast also includes Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, and Michael Caine. That’s a very impressive line-up and a release date for Interstellar has been set for November 7th, 2014.

'Interstellar' Teaser Poster Lands, Plus First Details on New Trailer

A first teaser poster is here for Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar." While not much is known about the film, we do know it launches into theaters on November 7, and stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain.  This already ridiculously top-drawer cast is rounded out by Wes Bentley, Topher Grace, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, David Oyelowo, Bill Irwin and more. Folks watching the "Hubble 3D" presentation at the Smithsonian's Air & Space Museum in DC, however, know a lot more than we do, because they were treated to the trailer premiere for the upcoming sci-fi adventure film (full report here). The film was shot on 70mm and IMAX film, per Nolan's commitment to the medium. Here's the tagline: "Mankind was born on Earth. It was never meant to die here." Recently, NBC revealed the new official,synopsis/spoilers for their upcoming "Law And Oder: Svu" episode 19 of season 15. The episode is entitled, "Downloaded Child," and it sounds like things will get quite interesting, once again, as a lady gets taken away for putting her child in danger, and more. In the new,19th episode press release: a troubled young woman trying to protect her daughter is going to get confronted by the harsh reality of her own childhood. Press release number 2: Single mom ,Jenny Aschler (guest star Meghann Fahy), is going to get arrested for child endangerment. Not trusting anyone to take care of her young daughter ,Maddie (guest star Ella Anderson), she instead is going to leave her home alone for days.
