Giveaway: Win 'Saw' 10th Anniversary Prizes

21 October 2014 7:54 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Fans can re-live the sheer terror from director James Wan' Saw when the modern horror-classic is re-released in theaters for one week only, starting October 31, to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of its initial release. Five years before Paranormal Activity helped spawn the "micro-budget" genre, Saw took audiences by storm, with this thriller that cost just $1.2 million to make, taking in over $100 million worldwide, and spawning a franchise that included six successful sequels.

Saw starred Leigh Whannell (who co-wrote the script with James Wan) and Cary Elwes as two strangers who wake up trapped in a horrifying dungeon, as they are forced to follow the intricate rules of a killer known only as Jigsaw, if they want to make it out alive.

To help celebrate this 10th Anniversary re-release, we have a giveaway lined up where fans can win five Saw collectible posters, three of which you can see below, »

Tonight on Person of Interest (CBS, 10/9), Finch asks the question many of us have wondered ever since Samaritan went online: How is Root able to flit around from persona to persona, while the rest of Team Machine is locked into one identity apiece?

In this above sneak peek, Root (played by Amy Acker) explains her “fluid” state as she sheds her Un translator’s red locks… and more… while Finch (Michael Emerson) does his best to avert his male gaze.

Elsewhere in the episode, Jason Ritter (Parenthood) guest-stars as the Poi, a gifted political pollster whose typically ironclad predictions have suddenly started going very wrong. »

New 'Saw' Movie Planned; Original Creators May Return

15 October 2014 6:18 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The original 2004 horror classic Saw is returning to theaters this Halloween for its tenth anniversary celebration. Shock Till You Drop recently sat down with producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules, and it was soon revealed that an all-new Saw is in the planning stages with the original creators.

While first-time director James Wan never jumped behind the camera for any of the sequels, he did go onto make his mark with other horror hits and action thrillers including the franchise spawning Insidious and The Conjuring, as well as Death Sentence and the upcoming Fast & Furious 7. His writing partner Leigh Whannell has done equally as well, writing and producing a number of box office hits, appearing in some of them as an actor, and setting out to make his directorial debut with Insidious Chapter 3. Now, it sounds like the duo are ready to return to the one that started it all. »

Person of Interest: Season Four Ratings

8 October 2014 1:40 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Last season, Person of Interest moved to Tuesday nights and lost Taraji P. Henson. The show also lost a lot in the ratings. Will the numbers continue to fall or will they rise with a new lead-in? Is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a fifth season by CBS (because of syndication) or, could it be cancelled? Stay tuned.

On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-cia agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- usually the next »

'Saw' 10th Anniversary Re-Release Trailer

29 September 2014 2:36 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

A Halloween tradition returns next month as the original Saw heads back to theaters for a one-week engagement in celebration of its 10th anniversary starting October 31st.

Relive the horror of what the Guinness Book of World Records hails as the "Most Successful Horror Franchise" of all time with a brand new trailer and poster in celebration of Jigaw's triumphant return. After securing $874 million at the box office worldwide over the past decade, the one that started it all is ready to scare a whole new generation of fans.

Saw was the first collaboration for co-creators James Wan, who directed the film, and Leigh Whannell, who wrote the screenplay. Together, they also created the successful Insidious franchise, and Wan has gone on to direct such high-profile films as The Conjuring and the upcoming Fast & Furious 7. But nothing comes close to the terror held within the framework of the very first Saw! »

Why Lost Fans Should Watch Once Upon a Time

29 September 2014 11:30 AM, PDT | VH1.com | See recent VH1.com news »

With the premiere of Lost celebrating its 10th anniversary, it’s a stark reminder that no show has been able to truly capture that same frenzied passion. From the memorable characters to its unique style of storytelling, Lost gave TV viewers something fresh and interesting to watch week after week. And in its absence, Once Upon a Time is the best option to fill the void left by flight 815.

While Once Upon a Time has received a lot of attention for its Frozen arc that kicked off season four, we see it as our connection to a series we’re still not finished gushing about. Nothing will replace the brilliant series, but thanks to a number of shared actors and writers, ABC’s fairy tale drama is the best thing to watch to fill those Lost cravings. Here’s why:

In Defence Of... 'The End', Lost's divisive and controversial series finale

28 September 2014 1:00 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

Digital Spy presents Lost Week - seven days of special features celebrating 10 years of the game-changing Us TV drama.

The Lost finale was one of the most discussed TV events in recent memory - and like the Sopranos before it, it didn't instantly receive the most positive of reviews online. To this day, it remains an episode that will probably be met with a passionate response in one way or another.

While many fans were left confused or even angry with 'The End', there were just as many that loved how Lost concluded in 2010, including this writer.

Firstly, to quickly banish the biggest myth about Lost's end, they weren't dead all along. Everything that happened on the island happened. When Jack and his fellow survivors remembered each other in the flash-sideways universe, it occurred at a certain metaphysical moment of time long after every one of them had died »

Perfectly perfect in every way: Lost’s best episodes, by season

25 September 2014 4:00 AM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

Lost was a landmark series for network television, a one-of-a-kind show that producers and executives are still trying, and failing, to recreate. It’s been ten years since it premiered, on September 22, 2004 (which, coincidentally, was the date of the crash of Oceanic 815). Rather than try to make a simple Top 10 Episodes list, which would induce nightmares of trying to rank drastically different installments, here are the best episodes from each of Lost’s six seasons, along with six runners up.

Season 1: “Walkabout”

Written by David Fury

Directed by Jack Bender

“Walkabout” is the episode that transforms John Locke from simple ensemble member to one of the focal points of the series, a character who up to this point has just been a mysterious hunter who smiles with orange peels in his mouth. He becomes so much more than that as the series goes on, as a member of two »

Over the course of Person of Interest’s three seasons, the Machine, despite the best efforts of itself, Finch, and Root, has been spotted by a number of individuals, resulting in its disconnection from the government last season after the public learned of its existence. That void was filled by Greer and his system Samaritan, whose first action was to decimate the immediate threat of Vigilance before setting their sights on Finch, Root, Shaw, and Reese. The fourth season premiere picks up with the four of them living under new identities, in a solid start to what promises to be another strong season.

For the Record, the Lost Series Finale Didn’t Suck

22 September 2014 9:00 AM, PDT | VH1.com | See recent VH1.com news »

As we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Lost, we remember the controversial series finale that people still argue about today. There are 4,938 questions showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse and the writing staff brilliantly left unanswered. Without trying to address each one, I’m here to take a stand on why the series finale kicked ass, with a little help from cast members Michael Emerson (Ben Linus), Yunjim Kim (Sun-Hwa Kwon), and Ken Leung (Miles Straume). Don’t agree? I dare you to rewatch that final episode and refrain from crying all over again.

I was a late bloomer hopping on the Lost train, having just finished the series in its entirety this summer. But with the show fresh on the brain, I have to admit, I couldn’t have asked for a better ending. The greatest reason being, I didn’t truly realize everyone was in some sort of »
