Doug Ellin is hard at work making the Entourage movie, but when he is done, he will be returning to television with an overall deal at CBS TV Studios. The overall pact stems from Ellin’s collaboration with CBS TV Studios on the comedy The Moodys, which received a put pilot commitment at Fox in August. It is based on the Australian series A Moody Christmas about a son who abandons his lofty goals to move back home to help run the family business. The hilarious 2003 cult comedy Bad Santa saw Billy Bob Thornton as a Grinch-like department store Santa Claus, who alongside his dwarf sidekick (Tony Cox), used their position to rob the store of its expensive contents and annual takings. The film has gone on the become a firm festive favourite but sadly, the original director Terry Zwigoff has stated he has “no interest in sequels”, so a follow film has struggled to make it to the big-screen despite Thornton being desperate to reprise his role.
Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink was attached to the project early last year, with Entourage creator Doug Ellin tasked with penning the screenplay. Since then, things have remained rather quiet. While it’s been a long time coming, Thornton has confirmed his loathsome (yet loveable) alcoholic character of Willie T. Stokes will return to cinema screens soon.

Billy Bob Thornton has been pushing for a sequel to his 2003 "Bad Santa" comedy ever since the original film hit theaters. But there have been script issues and director Terry Zwigoff said that he has "no interest in sequels." Despite all the bad news, Thornton has now confirmed that "Bad Santa 2" will begin shooting in 2014. "It's been very hard trying to get the script right. We've been through three or four drafts but we're getting real close," he explained. "Then there's the business dealings to sort out, all the stuff I don't understand. But one way or another, the sequel will happen and the idea is to shoot it next year." He went on to admit that "we'll never beat the first film," adding: "but we'll get as close as we can." Steve Pink (Grosse Pointe Blank, High Fidelity) has stepped in to direct from a script by "Entourage" creator Doug Ellin. »
It’s a long and difficult road, but things are looking up for the seemingly ill-fated Entourage movie. Whenever a beloved series ends, whether on good terms or bad, there will inevitably be talk about a film adaptation. Some times it takes a while (Veronica Mars will finally be released in 2014, while we’re still waiting for the Arrested Development movie to be even written), which was the case for Entourage – it ended in 2011. Although Entourage hasn’t had to wait as long as some, it’s had plenty of troubles getting off the starting line. And now it’s finally picking up speed.
Doug Ellin, the creator of Entourage, posted a picture to his Instagram that is certain to excite fans of the HBO series. While there have been delays in production and contract issues ever since the idea of a movie was brought up, the cast finally reached a deal in October. »

The much mooted Entourage film is now a reality. The show's creator Doug Ellin tweeted a photo of main cast members Jeremy Piven, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Debbie Mazar with the caption, "January 16 start date. Getting pumped."
In September of 2011, the briefly enjoyable series end after an eight season run and while it's only two years ago that the show ended, Entourage's popularity plummeted after season 4. Does anyone truly care about this anymore, or is it simply looking to ride on the success of Jeremy Piven? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. »

It was previously revealed that the story picks up six months after the end of the HBO series. As repetitive as the series was, I always enjoyed watching it, and it will be fun to see the the gang back together again. »

There has been speculation that an Entourage film would be made since the HBO show's finale in 2011, and the movie was confirmed by Ellin last month.
Entourage ran for 8 seasons on HBO, and received 25 Emmy nominations over its time on the air. »
Numerous setbacks and rumored money squabbling earlier this year appeared to have rendered the long-awaited Entourage movie dead in the water. More recently, however, the returning ensemble cast reportedly signed their respective deals and the show’s creator/film’s director, Doug Ellin, assured fans that the movie was still “a go.”
But considering the show’s loyal contingent of supporters had become accustomed to hearing such promises over the years, they remained understandably skeptical. Now those faithful followers finally have something solid to hang their hats on, as Ellin confirmed a production start date of January 16, 2014.
The announcement came via Ellin’s Instagram account. Check it out below:

If you want all the latest details on the upcoming, actually-real Entourage movie, you could do worse than to follow the Instagram feed of series creator Doug Ellin. He was the first person to confirm, last month, that the contract disputes had been settled and the boys were coming back, and today he posted the above photo and message, which confirms the movie will go into production on January 16. That puts just two months between the contracts getting signed and the start of production, but Ellin's had plenty of time to whip the story into shape-- talk of an Entourage movie has been happening for nearly four years now, and Ellin even announced a full year ago that he had finished the script. That's when the problems apparently really started, since word on the project went completely silent until early last month, when series executive producer Mark Wahlberg spoke out »

Although we previously knew that the Entourage movie was set to begin production this coming January, creator Doug Ellin confirmed the specific start date with a recent tweet. Looks like the gang will officially get back together for the feature treatment on January 16th. Back in October, the filmmaker revealed that the long-awaited movie was finally given the green light by Warner Bros. Production was always expected to begin sometime in January, after Jeremy Piven wraps production on his U.K. TV series Mr. Selfridge.
The Entourage movie has a start date. Writer Doug Ellin tweeted Wednesday morning that the movie, based on the HBO series, would begin shooting January 16. But more importantly, he tweeted a photo of himself with the movie’s cast. That’s noteworthy since the hold-up for the movie has been a noisy conflict among the key principals regarding backend.
Jeremy Piven initially received a larger backend deal than the other actors -- Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Jerry Ferrara and Kevin Dillon -- expected and who then wanted pay more comparable with Piven's.
