Bajirao Mastani, Tamasha and Roy lead the nominations in the film category at 6th Gionee Colors GiMA Awards

India’s biggest celebration of music, The Global Indian Music Academy (GiMA) has unveiled its most illustrious nominee list for the year. Only the most outstanding in the industry have the honor of receiving a GiMAnomination, with only the finest getting a chance to walk awaywith the most coveted music award in India- the GiMA award.

For the film category, Bajirao Mastani bagged the maximum nominations by receiving a nod in nine categories. Following closely with seven nominations is the super hit movie Tamasha and Roy with six.

Global music icon A.R. Rahman has been nominated for his incredible work as music director in Tamasha and Arijit Singh features prominently on the list for his playback singing.

2015 proved to be a relatively good year for Bollywood music. We had a diverse range of albums from the fun and happy soundtrack of Bajrangi Bhaijaan to the ultra traditional Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. This has naturally made it difficult for us to keep our list of songs to just 25, hence we have a bumper list of 50 songs for you! Reflections 2015: Top 10 Best Albums of 2015

Bollywood had an interesting year of music, whether it was A.R.Rahman delivering a cohesive soundtrack in Tamasha or Amit Trivedi conjuring up the jazz and swing sounds of Bombay’s jazz age in Bombay Velvet. There was also less pressure on one music director to deliver when multiple artists contributed to the film’s hits like Roy’s ‘Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan’ by Meet Bros, and ‘Sooraj Dooba Hai’ by Amaal Mallik. 2015 was definitely a year for experimentation for music directors, which we completely appreciated including the retro albums like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo with the title track capturing the nation on Dubsmash.
