Dr. Leah Murphy exits Grey's Anatomy twice, causing confusion about her final departure from the show. Grey's Anatomy often weaves characters in and out of the drama, but it forgets to write off Dr. Leah Murphy in season 13. After being fired and then brought back, Dr. Leah Murphy eventually vanishes from Grey's Anatomy without any explanation.
Because Dr. Leah Murphy (Tessa Ferrer) exits Grey's Anatomy twice — once without announcement — there's a lot of confusion about when she finally leaves the show. Grey's Anatomy follows the careers and personal lives of medical professionals in the surgical field at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital (previously named Seattle Grace Hospital). With 19 seasons and counting, many Grey's Anatomy actors have left the show, moving on to other projects. The show weaves characters in and out of the drama with ease, usually providing some sort of explanation for why they depart.

This list contains descriptions of violent and/or disturbing scenes in TV shows, with some images included.
Walt's intense death scene in the Breaking Bad series finale is the culmination of the show's five seasons. Stephanie's harrowing escape from a burning hospital in Grey's Anatomy showcases intense moments of survival and sacrifice. Band of Brothers' depiction of the liberation of a concentration camp highlights the horrors of World War II.
While some of the most intense scenes in TV shows may be disturbing to audiences, they are often necessary to the story the showrunners are trying to tell. For example, a show about a military cannot shy away from depicting the realities of that war. In the fictional realm, murder mysteries inevitably must reveal the killer at some point, while espionage shows depict the main characters attempting dangerous missions under enormous pressure.

Dr. Levi Schmitt was the last of his Residents class at Grey Sloan Memorial and was made Chief Resident in Grey’s Anatomy season 19. Many interns have been introduced throughout the years, but other than the original interns and the interns of season 19, not many have stuck around or got much screen time. The focus has been on Meredith Grey, her class and the attendings. Lexie Grey was the only main intern in her class, mostly because she was Meredith’s sister. Stephanie Edwards and Jo Wilson were also interns that got their own storylines. But Stephanie also dated Jackson Avery, and Jo married Alex Karev.
Schmitt was introduced in Grey’s Anatomy season 14, episode 1. He was a fourth-year medical student visiting Grey Sloan Memorial as a potential intern. He, of course, got a spot in the residency program. But on his first day as a sub-intern, his glasses fell in the...

Grey’s Anatomy season 19, episode 17, featured Amelia going on an apology tour to Yasuda and Winston for her actions in the previous episode, which is an example of how much she’s grown over the seasons. Amelia entered the Grey’s Anatomy universe through its spinoff Private Practice but became a series regular on Grey’s after the spinoff’s cancelation in 2013. Amelia has been through a lot during her time on both shows, and she has made many mistakes and poor decisions, but her apologizing to Yasuda and Winston in Grey’s Anatomy season 19 is a welcome change for her character.
Amelia was first introduced in Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice as Derek Shepherd’s youngest sister and a budding neurosurgeon who was getting her life together after years of battling addiction. While she has two relapses, once in Private Practice and another in Grey’s Anatomy, she seemed to finally be in a good place,...

Grey’s Anatomy season 19 introduced a brand-new class of relatable and intriguing surgical interns, however, it needs to bring back its residents, as they are a vital part of the medical drama. Grey’s Anatomy season 18 had Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital risk the worst by losing the residency program until the hospital’s problems were solved. However, even with it reinstated, Grey’s Anatomy season 19 still hasn’t gotten its residents back. With most of Levi Schmitt’s (Jake Borelli) colleagues either across the country in other hospitals or out of the profession, Grey Sloan Memorial effectively lost all residents except for Schmitt as chief resident and Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) as Ob/Gyn resident.
While Grey’s Anatomy started off following the original Magic five at the beginning of their year as surgical residents, throughout its 19 seasons, it evolved to follow them as residents. Even when Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo...

Shonda Rhimes recently explained that she doesn't know how Grey's Anatomy will end. According to People, the hospital drama's creator said, "I've had 15 different endings for this show, and the show just keeps going." This definitely makes sense as many characters are now gone from the hospital drama, whether they move away with the love of their life, get a fantastic new job, or in tragic cases, pass away after an accident.
Redditors enjoy discussing which Grey's Anatomy characters should return to the TV series, from Meredith's brilliant best friend to the sweetest doctor who has a heartbreaking end to his arc and a couple who die from injuries after a dramatic plane crash.
Addison Montgomery

While Meredith Grey won't appear in every episode of season 19 of Grey's Anatomy, the character is still an important part of the hospital drama. The question of how the show will fare if Ellen Pompeo leaves is one that fans have been asking themselves for a while now. Thankfully, Meredith is still around, and the story is focusing on new interns and other beloved characters.
When a character leaves Grey's Anatomy, they have decided to change their career course, reunite with a former soulmate, or in some tragic cases, have unfortunately succumbed to injuries or been in a terrible accident. Redditors are discussing the times when characters leave this beloved show and it makes sense for the story.

Grey's Anatomy returns for season 19 on October 6th, bringing back a whole variety and old and new characters. The show has been around for a while, so having a long list of past characters isn't something odd. And while fans have had to let go of some characters that have tragically passed away, there are some that could potentially return.
Being on the same project for so long can sure feel stifling for the actors, so taking a break is normal. But fans live for the occasional cameos from the characters that have left the show. Some of them are more plausible than others, but every single one is desired by the fandom.

Normally around this time of year, the bleachers have already been erected through Pasadena, and hundreds of thousands of people are preparing to camp out on city streets to catch a glimpse of the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day.
It’s a tradition that dates back to 1891, and has only been canceled three times, during World War II. But now the Rose Parade has been put on hold for a fourth time, and plans for this year’s event — including the theme (“Dream. Believe. I was skeptical that season 14 of Grey's Anatomy would truly be lighthearted, despite what the cast had been saying. Shonda Rhimes's hit drama, after all, is notorious for bomb scares, plane crashes, and ruthless deaths. Plus, we found out halfway through the season that two beloved cast members would leave the show! But this joyful season surprised us with touching moments like Meredith's Harper Avery win and Jo's heartwarming proposal. Still, the writers introduced major game changers in the finale, so we'll definitely encounter some classic Grey's drama come season 15.
Here are the biggest turning points that you should remember from the least sad Grey's season of all time.
1. Amelia Discovers That She Has a Grapefruit-Sized Brain Tumor
Amelia discovers that she has been walking around with a grapefruit-sized tumor for years. Luckily, Dr. Koracick removes the tumor successfully. After her surgery, Amelia realizes that Owen had married her tumor,...

‘Grey’s Anatomy:’ Will Ben and Bailey’s Relationship Last Into Spin-Off? Star Jason George Weighs In
One of the biggest questions heading into the second half of “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 14 and its firefighter spin-off is how Dr. Ben Warren (Jason George) and Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson)’s marriage will fare after Ben’s new career choice. Before the “Grey’s” holiday hiatus, Ben finally told Bailey he applied to the Firefighter Academy, and, in George’s words, she is “not a fan.” Ben is motivated to join the Academy after saving Dr. Stephanie Edwards (Jerrika Hinton) from a hospital fire in the Season 13 finale. But Bailey, who’s still Chief of Surgery at Grey Sloan Memorial,...

That former Grey's star is Sara Ramirez who played character Callie Torres for 10 straight years from 2006 to 2016. Apparently, Sara did a new interview with the folks over at Entertainment Weekly. During her interview, she told them about a conversation she had with producer Shonda Rhimes about possibly returning. She said that they've definitely agreed to keep the conversations going. She stated, "When Shonda Rhimes and I last spoke, we agreed to keep the conversations going, and she knows I’m open to keeping those conversations going." Does Sara Ramirez regret leaving when she did? Apparently not.

Grey’s Anatomy bid farewell to another Grey Sloan doctor.
On Thursday’s season 13 finale, titled “Ring of Fire,” the aftermath of last week’s shocking explosion left many fans wondering about the fate of Dr. Stephanie Edwards (Jerrika Hinton), who was thrown from the blast after attempting to stop it from happening in the first place.
Though Stephanie miraculously survived, the harrowing experience she went through afterward -- saving the young girl, Erin, from losing her leg and keeping them both safe from the fire -- was traumatic enough to set her on a new path and say goodbye to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. As a result, Thursday’s finale marked Hinton’s final episode as a series regular on Grey’s.

Being a doctor at Grey Sloane (formerly Seattle Grace/Seattle Grace Mercy West) Hospital ain't easy. Sure, everybody is incredibly hot, and each physician performs miracles on a daily basis, but the staff also has the bad luck of being killed off tragically. On Grey's Anatomy, the latest possible casualty to start her shift and not ever clock out (or punch out using the big time clock in the sky) is Dr. Stephanie Edwards. Edwards is the Top Gun of surgical residents, the best of the best, but the words "bright future" took on a whole new meaning when, at the end of episode 23, "True Colors," Edwards was caught in an explosion ignited by one burning, homicidal maniac and some oxygen tanks. Will Edwards be found alive, or will all that's left be a charcoal briquette?...

Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you haven’t watched Thursday’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
Grey’s Anatomy just blew the roof off season 13’s penultimate episode.
At the end of Thursday’s episode, titled “True Colors,” Dr. Stephanie Edwards (Jerrika Hinton) found herself in harm’s way with a patient, Keith, whom she wrongly assumed was worried about another victim’s well-being following a horrific car accident. When she realized that he was attempting to rape the female victim, it was already too late.
With Grey Sloan Memorial on lockdown as the docs feverishly searched for Keith, he held Stephanie hostage with a scalpel by the neck, seeking a way out of the hospital without getting caught. His attempt at successfully escaping was all for naught, though, as the lockdown forced him, Stephanie and a young girl, Erin (Darby Camp), to remain stuck in a hospital corridor.

Dr. Stephanie Edwards' days at Grey Sloan Memorial seem to be officially numbered. Grey's Anatomy has been planting seeds all season long that Edwards (Jerrika Hinton) might not be emotionally stable enough to handle the pressures that come along with being a surgeon, with the major cracks showing after her first solo surgery resulted in the death of a child. And tonight it all came to a head when another child showed up in the ER looking for help with his massive brain tumor. The only problem? His father's religious beliefs rejected any and all medical intervention. When the boy returned a second time with his vision entirely impaired, Edwards and Karev (Justin Chambers) made the decision to...

(Spoiler alert: Please do not read on if you haven’t watched Thursday’s episode of “Grey’s Anatomy”) If you blinked in the midst of all the chaos of Dr. Maggie Pierce’s (Kelly McCreary) surgery, you might have missed Dr. Isaac Cross’s (Joe Adler) dramatic diagnosis: Diverticulitis. The surgical intern was being treated by Dr. Stephanie Edwards (Jerrika Hinton) and to be honest, he came off as a little dramatic hypochondriac. Cross assumed he had symptoms that were much more serious than they actually were and demanded that all these expensive tests be run on him because he definitely had something.

Another character is about to take their leave from Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
How they'll go is pure speculation at this point, but having been cast in another series, it's definitely time to hit the ground running...fast enough that they won't be a series regular for Grey's Anatomy Season 14.
So who is it?
It's time to say goodbye to Stephanie Edwards.
That's right, Jerrika Hinton has landed a starring role on the upcoming HBO series from Alan Ball (Six Feet Under) also starring Holly Hunter.
Hinton will play Ashley, one of the three adopted children of Hunter's lawyer and her philosophy professor husband.
The family adopted Ashley, an American-born Somalian refugee, when her mother died and her father was deported.
The character, a powerhouse in the online fashion industry, will be struggling with her cultural identity.
