He was an actor and assistant director, known for The Odd Couple (1968), The Good Guys (1968) and Barefoot in the Park (1967). He was married to Louise Sorel and Marylin Cosgrove. He died on July 21, 1996 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA.

He was equally adept at both comedies and dramas.
He is most likely remembered for his role as Bea Arthur's (Dorothy's) ever-present ex-husband, "Stanley Zbornak", on the hit show The Golden Girls (1985).
