Warner Bros. announces Vixen: The Movie

No, Mari McCabe isn’t joining Nightwing in getting a live-action DC Extended Universe outing, but she is coming to Blu-ray and DVD in animated form, with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announcing Vixen: The Movie for release this May.

As you may have guessed from the cover artwork, Vixen: The Movie is actually a home-entertainment release of the Arrowverse-set CW Seed animated series, combining the first two season with 15 minutes of all-new, never-before-seen content to create a single uniform story.

Vixen: The Movie gives fans the action sequences and the characters that they all fell in love with in Arrow and The Flash,” said Rosemary Markson, Wbhe Senior Vice President, Television Marketing. “We are very excited to release Vixen: The Movie for fans of the hit series and DC collectors, featuring never-before-seen content available exclusively to owners of the Blu-ray, DVD or Digital HD.”

Vixen: The Movie Blu-Ray Cover Art And Release Date Revealed

24 February 2017 10:24 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Each year, Warner Home Video puts out three major DC animated films – in 2017’s case, Justice League Dark, Teen Titans: The Judas Contract and Batman and Harley Quinn – but sometimes we get a few unexpected treats in between. One such example comes in the surprise announcement of Vixen: The Movie.

For those unfamiliar, Vixen was an animated web series on the CW Seed streaming service that chronicled the adventures of the superheroine of the same name. But what made this especially appealing was that it took place within the confines of the Arrowverse, thus Mari McCabe was voiced by Megalyn Echikunwoke, the very same actress who played her in live action on Arrow.

Being someone who doesn’t always have the time to catch up on web series, I’d been waiting for it to be included as bonus content on a Blu-ray release of, say, Arrow or The Flash. »
