Katee Sackhoff Returns to Space in Sci-Fi Thriller Origin Unknown

It was revealed today that Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, Riddick, Oculus, Don't Knock Twice) will play the lead role of Mackenzie 'Mack' Wilson in the sci-fi thriller Origin Unknown, and that Content Media has come on board to handle worldwide sales. UK-based Coffee & Cigarettes who act as executive producers on the film brokered the deal with Content Media to represent the film. Here's what Eduardo Panizzo of Coffee & Cigarettes had to say in his statement about the new deal.

"We are delighted to be working with Content Media on this project, they have an exceptional track record and a proven history of success in the Sci-Fi genre."

Katee Sackhoff is no stranger to space. She’s faced otherworldly horrors before in Battlestar Galactica and Riddick, and now she’s setting her sights on Mars in the new sci-fi thriller Origin Unknown.

SXSW 2017 Bolsters Lineup With Baby Driver, Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire And Much More

After drawing attention to the festival’s annual Gaming Awards, organizers behind the South by Southwest Film Festival have posted the full, comprehensive lineup, revealing that the likes of Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver and Free Fire, the riotous ensemble thriller from Ben Wheatley, are among those films that will screen for critics and attendees.

Per SXSW 2017‘s website, this year’s showcase will host “84 World Premieres, 11 North American Premieres, and 6 Us Premieres. First-time filmmakers account for 51 films, continuing our tradition of unearthing the emergent talent of tomorrow.” British auteur Ben Wheatley (Kill List, Sightseers, A Field in England) is a regular of the Texas festival, and will be rubbing shoulders with other favorites including Michael Winterbottom, Nacho Vigalondo, Michael Showalter.

Sundance: Content Media Acquires International Rights to ‘Legion of Brothers’

Content Media Corp. has acquired the international rights from CNN Films for the Afghan War documentary “Legion of Brothers.”

The companies announced the deal on the eve of the Sundance Film Festival. “Legion of Brothers,” produced by CNN Films and Passion Pictures, and directed by Greg Barker, will have its world premiere at the festival on Saturday.

Producers are John Battsek, Greg Barker, Peter Bergen and Tresha Mabile. Executive producers are Amy Entelis and Vinnie Malhotra. CNN retains U.S. broadcast rights.

Legion of Brothers” centers on the fewer than 100 Special Forces troops who were deployed to Afghanistan immediately after Sept. 11, 2001, for a secret war initiated by the United States government. In coalition with the rebels of the Northern Alliance, these troops faced off against the Taliban and Al Qaeda, successfully driving both out of power by the end of 2001 without conventional, large-scale military operations.
