She is the daughter of Thomas "Tim" Welles Durant and Adelaide Close. Adelaide Close is the daughter of Marjorie Merriweather Post and Edward Close.
Her grandmother, Marjorie Merriweather Post, married E. F. Hutton. They had one child, actress Dina Merrill, who married Cliff Robertson. Merrill is her aunt.
Her grandfather married a second time and one of his children by this marriage is the father of actress Glenn Close.
Her father, Thomas "Tim" Durant, was a writer and personal assistant to Charlie Chaplin.
