Edna Doré was born on May 31, 1921 in Bromley, Kent, England as Edna Lillian Gorring. She was an actress, known for Les Misérables (1998), High Hopes (1988) and Sherlock Holmes (1964). She was married to Alexander Doré. She died on April 11, 2014 in Sussex, England.

Earned plaudits in her native Britain for her portrayal of an elderly lady's descent into Alzheimer's Disease in the BBC series EastEnders (1985).
Won a scholarship to the drama school of the Croydon Repertory Theatre when she was just 15. Paul Scofield was also a student there at the time.
Mother to Michael S. Dore (b. 1953) and grandmother to Bryony (b. 1985), Matthew (b. 1986), Charles (b. 2002) and Milly (b. 2004).
Also acted on radio for BBC 4.
