Fox 2000 has bought movie rights to Darcey Bell’s upcoming murder mystery “A Simple Favor,” Variety has learned exclusively.

The pre-emptive deal for “A Simple Favor” was closed Thursday and has not yet been set with a producer. The story has been pitched as being in the vein of Gillian Flynn’s 2012 novel “Gone Girl” and Paula Hawkins’ 2015 debut “The Girl on the Train” — two best-selling thrillers in which a female protagonist disappears from a seemingly perfect relationship, part of the “domestic noir” genre.

“A Simple Favor” centers on three small-town characters: a mommy blogger, her best friend who disappears suddenly and the latter’s husband. The story includes betrayals and reversals, a dead body and the revolving question of who is duping whom.

Bell is a pre-school teacher in Chicago. The publication rights to “A Simple Favor” have been sold as part of a two-book to Harper Collins for »

Netflix's hit series House of Cards will return with all 13 episodes of Season 4 streaming on Friday, March 4. Here's what both Netflix and production company Media Rights Capital had to say in a statement, courtesy of Deadline.

'House of Cards' Season 4 Trailer Puts America Back on Track

18 January 2016 9:46 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

As you very well know by now, 2016 is an election year, but we still have several months until the Republican and Democratic candidates are announced at each party's national convention this summer. Fans will be privy to another political race much sooner, when Season 4 of House of Cards debuts Friday, March 4. Today, Netflix has released a brief teaser for this new season of House of Cards, which shows one of Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) new campaign posters, in a unique location.

The teaser showcases an arrangement of flowers lying on a subway track, which is perhaps a cryptic homage to the Season 2 premiere episode, where Frank Underwood pushed his lover Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara) in front of a train. We then see one of Underwood's new campaign posters, which states that the current President is "putting America back on track." Could this trailer tease that it might be Underwood himself »
