In each episode, contestants will tackle projects based on a new theme, with the level of difficulty steadily increasing. At the end of the season, one contestant will be crowned champion.
“I’m thrilled to be celebrating artists who make things by hand, and I’m looking forward to finally conquering my fear of paper mache,” Poehler said.
Said Offerman: “People who make things are my favorite kind of folk. Practical, clever and terrific in a pinch. That makes me tickled pink to have a front row seat at this prodigious display of talent, and
New Girl's Hannah Simone has been tapped to host the new Kicking & Screaming TV show on Fox. A competitive survival series, Kicking & Screaming teams 10 expert survivalists with -- let's say indoorsy types -- for what Fox calls, "the race of their lives." Per the network, Kicking & Screaming will drop these unlikely partners into a tropical jungle in Fiji, where they will face dangerous animals, raging rivers, hunger and extreme weather.
Produced by Pulse Creative’s Matt Kunitz, in association with Lionsgate Television, Kicking & Screaming is created by Matt Kunitz, David Shumsky, and Mark Harris. Kunitz and Anthony Dominici executive produce. Rebecca Shumsky Quinn developed the project and is a co-executive producer, along with Shumsky and Harris. The series is now in production, in Fiji.
Based on the UK format, “First Dates” explores the experience of a first date — the promise of potential love when it goes well and the hilariously awkward moments if it crashes and burns. The alternative series follows a variety of real first dates happening throughout one night at the same restaurant in Chicago. The daters are of all ages, backgrounds and from across the country. The audience will be along for the ride in a viewing experience that plays like a real-life romantic comedy and at the end of each episode, it will be revealed if participants want to see each other again for a second date.
Funny enough, Barrymore starred in the 2004 Adam Sandler pic titled, “50 First Dates,” though there’s no correlation between the NBC series and the film.

The show teams 10 expert survivalists with pampered partners to face the toughest race of their lives, dropping the unlikely duos in a forbidding wilderness where they must overcome dangerous animals, raging rivers, hunger and extreme weather. While these survivalists are accustomed to fending for themselves, their privileged partners aren’t so prepared. “Kicking and Screaming” hails from executive producer Matt Kunitz (“Wipeout,” “Fear Factor”), in association with Lionsgate Television.
“We’re delighted to venture into the wilderness with Fox and Matt Kunitz as our partners,” said Lionsgate Television Group Chairman Kevin Beggs. “’Kicking and Screaming’ has all the earmarks of an important new brand for Lionsgate Television. Matt is a singular creative voice, Fox is the ideal partner and ‘Kicking and Screaming’ is the perfect property to continue building our momentum in unscripted television.
The series is based on a U.K. format that airs on Channel 4. “First Dates” follows a group of couples as they embark on first dates at the same restaurant. A variety of production techniques are used to probe the questions of whether the two are clicking and whether there will be a second date.
Pam Healey and John Hesling are exec producers for Shed Media, part of the alternative division at Warner Bros. TV Group. DeGeneres and Jeff Kleeman of A Very Good Production banner are also exec producing with Tim Carter and Anthony Dominici.
Production is to begin in July in Chicago. There’s no word yet on a premiere date.
"I have been an adoring fan of the series for years and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing team. I feel so blessed to be a part of this project with 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.' Because of the constant love I receive from my family, friends, and now fans, I have always felt like my heart was just bursting with love and hope for others in need. I couldn't think of a better place or a better way to give back; to give love, support, and hope. I really feel like the world needs a lot of love right now,
