Colman Domingo lives and works between London and New York. He was educated at Temple University and moved to San Francisco to begin a career on the stage. He is an Olivier and Tony Award nominated actor, GLAAD and Lucille Lortel Award winning playwright. He has worked with notable artists such as Steven Spielberg, Ava DuVernay, Salman Rushdie, Kander and Ebb, Susan Stroman, Lee Daniels, Spike Lee, Nathan Lane, Megan Mulally, Jessie Norman, Daniel Day Lewis, Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, David Oyelowo, Common and Clarke Peters among others.

He was nominated for a 2011 Antoinette Perry (Tony) Award for an Actor in a Featured Role for the musical, "The Scottsboro Boys," on Broadway in New York City.
He was ordained a minister by the non-denominational Universal Life Church.
On the July 9, 2017 episode of Talking Dead Colman revealed that he had spent time as an aerial performer in a traveling circus.
