Gotham: Season Four Ratings

Last season, the Gotham TV series dropped even further in the ratings, Yet it remained one of the top ten scripted TV shows on Fox, in the 2016-2017 television season. A crime drama based on DC Comics characters, Gotham stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Robin Lord Taylor, Cory Michael Smith, David Mazouz, Sean Pertwee, Erin Richards, Carmen Biocondova, Drew Powell, Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas, Chris Chalk, Michael Chiklis, John Doman, and Jada Pinkett Smith. Here’s When Jerome Will Return To Gotham

Although Cameron Monaghan has never been a part of Gotham‘s principal cast, many would likely argue – and I would agree with them – that Jerome Valeska has easily emerged as the finest villain the series has thus far produced, thanks to sharp writing and the young actor’s incredible performances. Now, that’s not meant to be a knock against Robin Lord Taylor’s Penguin or Cory Michael Smith’s Riddler, but it’s just a testament to how well Monaghan has brought this proto-Joker to life.

When we last saw Jerome, he’d paid homage to Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s Batman: Death of the Family by wearing a dead skin mask with such style. But after he’d had all his fun in an amusement park straight out of The Killing Joke, James Gordon succeeded in apprehending the young knave – and punching off his face in the process.

Joaquin Phoenix and Lynne Ramsay’s Cannes Winner ‘You Were Never Really Here’ is Skipping Oscar Season
Bad news for anyone hoping Joaquin Phoenix’s big win at Cannes would result in his fourth Oscar nomination and possibly his first win. Amazon Studios has confirmed with Deadline that Lynne Ramsay’s “You Were Never Really Here” will open in select theaters February 23, which means the acclaimed thriller will be skipping the 2017-18 awards season altogether. The release date officially takes Phoenix and Ramsay out of the race. The latter won Best Screenplay at Cannes.

Sofia Falcone Debuts In First Trailer For Next Week’s Episode Of Gotham

Despite any concerns we may have had going in to season 4, Gotham has handily put them to bed in short order. Just last night, we were witness to what was possibly the most comic book accurate Scarecrow in live action to date, as Jim Gordon was forced to brave the halls of Arkham Asylum while under the influence of fear toxin. Truth be told, it made me recall Silent Hill‘s Brookhaven Hospital at times, but it’s more likely the producers were influenced by the Arkham video games.

After having to endure such a trippy encounter and dealing with Penguin trying to unionize crime, it seems like Gordon yearns to restore the order of yesteryear by having the Falcone family reclaim their throne. As such, he’ll be reaching out to Carmine and, in the process, will meet his daughter, Sofia. And if this plan doesn’t work, we

‘Wormwood’ Trailer: Errol Morris Brings True Story Miniseries To Netflix

  • The Playlist
Given the firm grip Netflix has on true crime stories, it only makes sense that Errol Morris, who delivered the genre defining “The Thin Blue Line,” should come to the streaming service. Indeed, the director is taking a big swing with “Wormwood,” a miniseries based on a true story, and it looks compelling as hell.

Starring Peter Sarsgaard, Christian Camargo, Scott Shepherd, Molly Parker, Jimmi Simpson, Bob Balaban, Tim Blake Nelson, John Doman, Hillary Gardner, Michael Chernus, Jack O’Connell, and Chance Kelly, the six-episode series will tell the untold true story of the CIA LSD experiments, mind control, and the death of a family man.

Meawhile, speaking with the outlet, executive producer John Stephens discussed Gordon’s career progression in the new season, and his relationship with Sofia: “We’re going to see Jim make, in some ways, big steps toward I guess what you would call the commissionership. But also we’re going to see Jim, in his quest to save the city, cross different ethical lines than he ever did before. It’s going to bring him to an ethical nadir that we haven’t seen him at,

Cannes Winning Best Actor and Lanthimos' Quirky 'Family' Thriller Academy Award Chances?

'120 Beats per Minute' trailer: Robin Campillo's AIDS movie features plenty of drama and a clear sociopolitical message. AIDS drama makes Pedro Almodóvar cry – but will Academy members tear up? (See previous post re: Cannes-Oscar connection.) In case France submits it to the 2018 Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, screenwriter-director Robin Campillo's AIDS drama 120 Beats per Minute / 120 battements par minute, about the Paris Act Up chapter in the early 1990s, could quite possibly land a nomination. The Grand Prix (Cannes' second prize), international film critics' Fipresci prize, and Queer Palm winner offers a couple of key ingredients that, despite its gay sex scenes, should please a not insignificant segment of the Academy membership: emotionalism and a clear sociopolitical message. When discussing the film after the presentation of the Palme d'Or, Pedro Almodóvar (and, reportedly, jury member Jessica Chastain) broke into tears. Some believed, in fact, that 120 Beats per Minute

Gotham Season 3 Episode 12 Review – ‘Ghosts’

Martin Carr reviews the twelfth episode of Gotham season 3…

With Gotham breaking again after the next two episodes it feels we barely have time to warm up before another hiatus is enforced. Which is why getting comfortable, becoming engaged or generally investing beyond a casual curiosity is ill-advised right now.

There are the usual shenanigans you come to expect, a funereal, assassination attempt and harsh words exchanged in full view of Gotham’s finest. But ultimately what we get here is a revenge tale, family reconciliations delivered with the subtlety of an incumbent President and our chief manipulator metaphorically waxing his moustache. Guest spots involving the return of certain characters provide that necessary shot in the arm, while Gordon, Bullock and company chase a coroner around Gotham while dodging pot shots from Victor Zsasz. Between that and Oswald’s slow mental disintegration, this is a disjointed if welcome addition to the season thus far.

Gotham Season 3 Episode 10 Review – ‘Time Bomb’

Martin Carr reviews the tenth episode of Gotham season 3…

Two rival organisations, car bombs made to look like mob vengeance and Don Falcone back on crime boss form are just a few things which kick off ‘Time Bomb’. Episode ten of Gotham’s season three spends its time lighting fires under the arse of an audience potentially getting comfortable. With the arrival and revelation that another hub of criminal activity exists beneath the streets of Gotham, showrunner Danny Cannon has thrown yet another element into the mix guaranteed to raise eyebrows.

Using Bruce, Cat and Ivy as a neat segue into their introduction this Eastern European group of miscreants and shady types prove to be a high point. Implying a direct opposition to this so called Court of Owls, Time Bomb’s Whisper Gang have come out swinging and out for blood. Nutty as a barmpot Mario Falcone might be,
