New York — The ride to 25th Street from the G-Unit offices outside of Times Square in 50 Cent's SUV wasn't long enough — the G-Unit General needed a little more time to play his record.

Outside of his camp, nobody had heard a lick of material from his street album, War Angel LP (which became available for download Tuesday), and he was eager to preview a few tracks for MTV News. Fif sat in his seat and pressed a button. Up came a huge flat screen from behind his manager Chris Lighty, who was seated facing 50 in the four-passenger SUV.

The screen displayed the Internet, not TV. Fif is big on the Web, if you haven't noticed. He said the traffic on his Web site, ThisIs50.com, has doubled since he started responding

Dmx Out of Jail, Still Facing Assault Rap

14 May 2009 4:00 PM, PDT | From E! Online | See recent E! Online news

We're hoping that, wherever he is now, Dmx is turning over a new leaf. The rapper-actor was released from a Phoenix jail Thursday after serving a 90-day sentence for a variety of felonious behavior involving drugs, dogs and identity theft. Dmx, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was sentenced Jan. 30 after cutting a deal with prosecutors on more than a dozen felony counts racked up over the prior 12 months. He ultimately pleaded guilty to one count each of animal cruelty, theft, marijuana possession and possession of a narcotic. But having served his time, why did Dmx have to pay a $10,000 bond to secure his release today? The Cradle 2 the Grave star was booked on suspicion of aggravated assault...

Rapper Dmx (born Earl Simmons) was released from an Arizona jail early Thursday morning (May 14), after serving more than three months on fraud, drug and animal-cruelty charges.

X was originally sentenced to serve 90 days in the infamous "Tent City" jail in Maricopa County, Arizona, but following an alleged altercation with a corrections officer in February, he was rebooked on suspicion of aggravated assault and his sentence was extended. A spokesperson for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office did not return calls for comment, but X's new publicist, Pam Pinnock, confirmed the release on Thursday.

"He was released on bail and went home this morning, and he was having breakfast with his family when I talked to him," Pinnock told MTV News early Thursday afternoon.

Assorted Creature Features Hitting DVD

6 March 2009 10:36 AM, PST | From DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news

Looking for DVD news about upcoming creature features starring predators of the sea duking it out, Dmx fighting a giant snake, intergalactic beatnik zombie invaders, and good ol' psycho Sasquatch bloodying up the forest? You've come to the right place today.

We begin with the most important motion picture on the list, possibly the most important motion picture of a generation. I, of course, speak of Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, The Asylum's non-mockbuster blockbuster due May 19th that pits a mega-sized shark against a giant octopus off the coast of California with Lorenzo Lamas and Debbie Gibson caught in the crossfire. This is the very reason we watch cinema in the first place.

Further details can be found in a rather popular article I wrote about Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus back in January. There's really nothing new to add at this time aside from the unfortunate reality that

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li Review

2 March 2009 10:27 PM, PST | From newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news

If you’re expecting Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li to be bad, you haven’t set your expectations low enough.  I’d rather take a roundhouse kick to the face than watch this movie again.  There’s nothing legendary about The Legend of Chun-Li, it’s just a laughably awful waste of time invoking the name of a beloved video game series.

When you play the game in the arcade, you pump quarters in to continue.  When I was watching this movie, I wished I could put money in to make it stop.  In the scoreless genre of video game adaptations, this movie is among the worst of the worst.  Director Andrzej Bartkowiak seems to be carving a niche for himself in the world of bottom-feeding action after this, another good game ruined by Doom, and the unquestionably bad Exit Wounds starring Dmx.  Even repeat video game offender Uwe Boll could have done better.

Dmx Dogged By More Jail Time

30 January 2009 12:50 PM, PST | From E! Online | See recent E! Online news

The dog days of two summers ago—make that the mistreating dog days—have resulted in a dark day for Dmx. The rapper today was sentenced to 90 days in a Phoenix jail, stemming from his guilty plea last month to one count each of animal cruelty, theft, marijuana possession and possession of a narcotic. In addition to his three-month lockup, the minimum he could have faced as a result of last month's plea deal, the arrest-prone artist, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was placed on 18 months probation for his misdeeds. But if you think he received any special treatment, think again. "I'm not sentencing Dmx today, I'm sentencing Earl Simmons," Maricopa County Superior...
