Exclusive Behind-The-Scenes Image From X-Men: Days Of Future Past

30 December 2013 1:00 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Were you worried that X-Men: Days Of Future Past would be less groovy than its predecessor, X-Men: First Class, after swapping the swingin' '60s for the '70s? Worry no more! This exclusive new behind-the-scenes image from the new issue of Empire (out Tuesday, December 31) proves that the principal cast, and director Bryan Singer, are styling as hard as ever in their Starsky & Hutch-style threads. This film, as you must know by now, sees a story split between a post-apocalyptic future where mutants are hunted and killed by robots called Sentinels, and a 1970s past where they might just be able to turn the tide. Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen) team up to send Wolverine's (Hugh Jackman) consciousness back in time to his younger self to unite their younger selves (James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, respectively) and change the course of history. So while we await something more substantial, Spoiler TV has posted a set photo giving us our first look at Pedro Pascal (Graceland) and Indira Varma (Luther) as Oberyn 'The Red Viper' Martell and Ellaria Sand...

A Few X-men Days Of Future Past To Make Monday Brighter

23 December 2013 9:00 AM, PST | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

Mondays can typically be a drag, but we’ve got a few X-Men: Days of Future Past pictures featuring some of your favorite heroes to help you along with the humdrum of the typically worst day of the week. So take a break and enjoy.

This does come on the heels of Friday’s news that well-loved character Rogue (played by Anna Paquin), had her scene cut from the film, though we are highly likely to see her in the special features of the home release of the movie. Here’s our story.

X-Men: Days of Future Past directed by Bryan Singer and starring Evan Peters, Adan Canto, Halle Berry, Omar Sy, Peter Dinklage, Patrick Stewart, Ellen Page, Ian McKellen, Shawn Ashmore, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Fan Bingbing and Jennifer Lawrence is slated to hit theaters on July 18th, 2014. »

No Rogue in Days of Future Past: Anna Paquin Cut from Film

21 December 2013 8:34 AM, PST | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Fans of Anna Paquin and her mutant character Rogue will not be happy to hear that the editing ax has struck hard. Director Bryan Singer has removed Rogue completely during his final cut for the theatrical release of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Poor Rogue. The popular comic book mutant hero was sadly underused in the original X-Men cinematic trilogy. Anna Paquin—who played the character in the three films—has gone on record about her disappointment that the theatrical Rogue wasn’t as tough or powerful as the comic counterpart. Well, the disrespect continues because Rogue/Paquin has been chopped out of the film by merciless editing, like Wolverine carving up a bad guy.

Although Paquin’s participation has been advertised—along with other returning cast members from the trilogy—director Bryan Singer has found it artistically necessary to cut Rogue out of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Singer »

Anna Paquin's Rogue cut from X-Men: Days of Future Past

20 December 2013 11:51 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past reads like a who's who of the X-Men franchise, but it seems we'll be getting one less mutant when the film arrives next year, with Bryan Singer revealing to Entertainment Weekly that Anna Paquin's role as Rogue has been cut from the eagerly-anticipated time-travel sequel.

"Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous," explains Singer, referring to a rescue scene that would have featured Rogue alongside Magneto (Ian McKellen), Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Iceman (Shawn Ashmore). "It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even »

X-men Character Cut From X-men-days Of Future Past

20 December 2013 4:05 PM, PST | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

The Gods of Editing did not smile on one of the many many X-Men characters that are making an appearance in Bryan Singer’s latest movie, X-Men Days of Future Past. Apparently one scene had to be cut, and it was this character’s only screen time.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Rogue (played by True Blood’s Anna Paquin) was filmed in a rescue scene that, while great, isn’t going to make the final cut. In their article they quoted Bryan Singer with the following remarks about the cut.

Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and »

Anna Paquin has been cut from the next X-Men movie, Days of Future Past.

Director Bryan Singer explained that he had to remove the True Blood actress's scene due to time constraints. Paquin had only filmed a short sequence for the sequel as Rogue.

Singer told Entertainment Weekly: "Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It's a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it.

"But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in.

"Even though she's in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won't appear in it."

The director added that Paquin was "awesome in the sequence" and he »

Director Bryan Singer spoke to Entertainment Weekly about an editing decision he had to make in post-production on the big summer 2014 release.

“Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous,” Singer told EW. “It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. Odd List Ryan Lambie 2 Jan 2014 - 06:40

We cast our eye over some of the lower-budget, independent movies coming out in 2014. Here are 20 films we're looking forward to...

It's become a Den Of Geek tradition to compile lists about the films we're most looking forward to in the following year, but it's sometimes the case that the bigger, more obvious movies occupy our minds more than the smaller, independent ones.

So to redress the balance a little, we've cast our nets a little wider, and sought out a selection of 20 films which don't necessarily have big budgets or the backing of a major studio, but nevertheless deserve our attention thanks to the quality of their cast, filmmakers or their concepts alone.

You can read our other list of 20 films we're looking forward to in 2014 here. But as a change of focus, here are 20 other films coming out this year that »

There might still be five months to go before Bryan Singer brings 20th Century Fox's two X-Men timelines to the screen with X-Men: Days of Future Past, but he's wasting little time jumping straight into the story for his next X-Men offering. After reprising the roles of the elder Professor X and Magneto for a brief post-credits appearance in The Wolverine, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are set to return to the X-Men franchise full-time next year as part of Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past, and the two actors have been speaking to The Wall Street Journal about working with their younger incarnations, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, on the time-travelling sequel.

"James and I come not just face-to-face, but nose to nose almost," said Stewart, referring to the scene between himself and McAvoy which we glimpsed in the trailer. "There was a certain happy charm about it, in that, when we shot that scene, it was James’ first day of work and it was my last day. So I was saying goodbye and he was saying hello. James has seen everything I have done and I’ve seen everything he has done. »

20th Century Fox has been releasing a few new images from X-Men: Days of Future Past, and they do a good job showing off some of the new costumes.  Whether these costumes are any good is up for debate, but Bishop (Omar Sy) has a cape, which is nice.  However, it's tough to make out if he still has the distinctive "M" over his eye.  I would also say one of these images is a minor spoiler since it shows that two characters from X-Men: First Class will be having a somewhat rocky reunion. If you doubted that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine was the main star of Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, then this latest magazine cover might do some convincing. Then again, maybe Wolvie’s just front and center because he’s the most recognizable character? That’s entirely possible, too.
